Advice needed - Solar System

Been following this thread, along with a couple others, and wanted to say thanks to @rh1 , @RonSwanson , @Snyper564 for all the nice info.

Am planning to install my system after Steve has replied from Powerforum. Crazy how long this process takes but if you think about it, R200k to secure electricity and avoid LS + substation blowouts, is 100% worth it alongside the savings. Eskom will just become more expensive unfortunately.

Whilst I wait for Steve, does anyone know any good installers in the PTA/Centurion area that are worth their salt?

Erm thanks I guess, since I just asked questions. Not sure if I know anything.

So it was more than the panels, received the inverter and various bits and bobs as well. Only awaiting 5 items still outstanding.

Will always recommend powerguru.co.za as they did my install. But I know there are a couple other good ones

So after talking to the installer, the big item, he brings it with him when he comes do the install.

Unexpected delays, but finally up. A few hiccups along the way, but not bad results considering I only have 9 panels, the bottom panel of the pallet was damage during shipping:

Wifes doing the laundry even though I asked her to do it later.:)

Yesterday, it was raining, and the sun came out in the afternoon after everything was activated, I switched on the pool pump to take advantage of the excess power:

So chuffed at the moment. Thanks @RonSwanson and @Snyper564. Pics to follow. Forgive the unpainted wall. There was a old nasty cupboard the previous owner built in the garage that we remove to make space, I left space for the future expansion to the left. I will edit the post later when posting the pics from my phone.20220813_082725.jpg20220813_082747.jpg

The pollyfill patch is where the previous owner attached the said cupboard.

The second pic is where the generator will be connected to. The Adendorff Generator came with two 25amp plugs which they used to make the extension cord from the generator the switch above. This is wired directly to the inverter.

How big is the generator?

We had to run the battery down to test the genny last night. But it worked and easily carried the load.
Run the battery down? Why would you need to do that?
