Advice needed with basic networking

Hi all,

Setup:

Client has a LTE Router

5x Win 10 Pro workstations

Currently using DHCP ( Very basic setup. Basically a normal LAN ).

Currently all connected with CAT5 cables.

What client wants:

To go wireless.

Client wants those USB plug 'n play wireless dongles to plug into each workstation and go wireless.

My Question:

When I plug in the dongle it'll pickup the LTE Router via it's SSD or whatever name right?

Then I just make each Win 10 Pro workstation use wireless and BOOM sorted.

Correct?

I mean LTE or ADSL router is the same with regards to these dongles picking them up on the network?

I've done it with a client that had a normal ADSL router who went from cable --> wireless with these dongles and it was a snap.

Just want to know if it'll be the same with an LTE Router.

Please help me as I'm noob (lol)
 
The question is WHY?

If the network cabling is already there and working why burn money on wireless which offers no benefit?

Laptops all come with wireless so make only those wireless and it will cost nothing.

And yes it's exactly the same. The WAN network doesn't matter to the LAN.

It is worrying that you have clients at all and you don't know these things.
 
inform your client that he might have connectivity issues with USB wireless dongles in workstations, it would be better to stay on cables.

yes, you connect the workstation wireless to the LTE modem SSID and it will work.

it usually installs it own connection app.

sometimes the dongle software will conflict with windows, sometimes the usb port will spaz out, sometimes windows will not detect the drivers, sometimes the dongle will not connect to the SSID. etc. etc. etc.

so yeah sure, use the dongle. it will mean more support calls for you and eventually your client will think you are useless at fixing the problem...

I hate wireless. Especially wireless printers.

That said, wireless issues bring lots of lovely support calls which means $$$ for yours truly. :)
