Advice on buying second hand 350D

Great deal! Does it work? ;)
He says it does. Always good to have a camera in reserve . . . wouldnt you agree ToxicBunny? :D

WRT a grip - I just realised I havent used mine since I got the new camera - the best thing about the 400D for me now is it's small size. :o

I gots my camera back now... FINALLLY!!!!! :D

But yeah, I'm possibly going to get a better body soon, and then my current camera will become the secondary

Sticking with sony?

Very possibly...

It works for me..... and if I move somewhere else, I'll need to buy 2 cameras.. and all new lenses and such...might be a TAD expensive atm.

I was just too lazy to read the thread :o

I'm trying to persuade myself that's good enough reason to buy myself a 5DmkII or a 7D :D

I saw a 400D + 18-55 kit in a shop in NY for $299. If the shop didn't look so dodgy (the price tag mentioned "220v only" - WTF?) I would have bought it.

Was is a 400D or a Rebel XTi?

I'd have bought it. I still think its a better camera than the 1000D.

Depends what accessories you currently have. You could use the sony as your reserve with what you currently have.

Good question, I don't remember. I'm going back in two weeks - will stroll by again.

I might have but I'm already going back with a 500D kit, nifty fifty, S90 and a kilogram coffee for a friend, so space might be tight.

This is true, The Sony COULD be the backup.... but that means I'd be buying something in a similar market segment to the Sony I currently have, whereas if I buy just a Sony Body I can probably move up a market segment....

The A850 looks like a mighty fine upgrade for someone who already owns Sony kit. Are your lenses all FF?

What sony gear do you have? If you have a lot of glass then moving might be a bad idea.

Very much doubt they are..... but they will fit on the mount...

Coffee? I take it the S90 isnt for you?

Get the 1.4 50mm - its worth the extra weight ;) :D

I have 3 lenses atm... so not ALOT...

But it'll be a few months before I contemplate a new camera... since I've just built a media PC at home...

Yip! A friend is looking for something specific and the company won't ship overseas.

I take it the S90 isnt for you?

Sadly no. A friend who I introduced to the G9 loves it but wants something more compact. He also want's something more substantial. Hence the 500D *and* S90

I want to but it's nowhere near the top of my shopping list. Right now I'm saving up for the 24-105L and hopefully by the time I can afford it, the 24-70 IS will be out...

I've heard rumours about the new 24-70 IS - hope that means cheap 24-70 non-is models! Otherwise there's always the sigma . . .

The speed of the 1.4 is truly awesome though. :o

I'm waiting for the IS :)

I know. I'm lusting over the USM on that lens too. I just don't use it often enough to justify spending the money replacing my perfectly working 1.8. If I had a FF cam it would be a different story.

I want the 24-70 for events and for that IS is an unnecessary expense.

My 1.8 isnt so healthy even after the repairs.

I dont think I'd like it as much on a FF though.
