Advice on purchasing a Porsche

I'm the same don't stress it is what makes you happy. You will get the positive comments and unfortunately the negative ones as well. Human nature at play

True that.

I called my insurance broker to find quotes and surprisingly he said that the Porsche insurance is not relatively very high.

What do you guys pay?

Thanks.
I had to crunch some numbers to get the S.

Problem is I'm a bit shy when it comes to these things. I'm wondering what the neighbours, my staff and my old toppie will think lol.

as long as you pay your staff well, screw what the rest think, your money - you earned it

If you planning on using Porsche as second or third vehicle , then try Alex forbes for distanced based insurance.

Very true. I work really hard and live an honest life.
Staff are happy. Bad timing with Christmas bonuses due

You need a specialist insurer ... Not all insurance houses insure Porsches believe it or not. AF might or might not be be able to insure... Reckon under R2k (profile dependent )

Sela brokers talk to them as well

Is AF a brokerage or underwriter?

I'm currently with MUA and get good rates for my merc and Bmw and my broker suggested he will get a quote from them.
I could ask him to check other underwriters.

I've built a relationship with this broker for 20 years and wouldn't want to move to another brokerage.

Mua I think does Porsche ... But the usual like outsurance, budget etc won't do Porsche (unless this has changed since)

Af are underwriters

One of my colleagues said he got a good rate with outlawrance.
I'll never ever insure with those guys.
A broker always helps you with claims whilst these direct guys always try to repudiate your claims.

Been with AF for years ... Best service best value for insurance . Always a no quibble attitude when it comes to claiming

Sorry. Guys, gals, ladyboys and trannies may reply

well, it all terribly pc to include all genders & persuasions, however

@ R850000 = R2200pm, R8500 excess
(alexander forbes (a pleasure to deal with)

Oh yes I remember you have the LR
Not a Porsche but a larny car anyway.

But that seems Ike a high premium for such a large excess? Does it include home cover too?

no
i recall premiums offered varied from around R1600 pm to around R2800pm - all had an R8500 excess, except the one company where the excess was R3000pm on a R2800pm premium.

risk profile also comes into play - single males are considered high risk
but it does include rental of similar vehicle (around R5k p/d)

alex forbes were the only that offered car rental included - and a few other extras.
i have been using them for over 20yrs for all, (incl marine) insurance - never ever had a problem, so i stuck with them even though i could get a slightly lower premium elsewhere

Not trying to derail the thread, but ooooft!!! I pay R903 for a 2014 3.0TDi V6 Touareg @800,000 excess iirc R5000 with Outsurance. A lot of folks knock them but I've got 3 cars with them and the other 2 add up to under R750 a month (2012 Polo, 2006 Touran).

Wait till you have to claim.

I had a friend who they repudiated because when they did the phone application they asked about previous accidents. In the rush
he forgot to mention a small fender bender which he paid cash for and didn't claim from previous insurer.
When time came to claim they held this against him. No broker was there to fight his claim.
What peeps forget is that you are still paying commission to the telesales guy so rather pay an independent broker.

Edit

VAG fanboy. Well you are in the right thread anyway

I did a lot of phoning around about a year ago and they came out way on top. So fingers crossed I don't have to claim, but I'm pretty sure you'd face the same battle with any of these shysters.
