lol - you go for it man. I think it is an awesome purchase. My comments were only made so you were aware of what you doing - whether I was right or wrong :)

yeah. thanks for the encouragement

3 of my friends landed up in ICU in the last 3 months. One guy ended up with a permanent vertigo and is struggling to drive.
I don't know what guarantees life has , so live for the present is my new motto!

Are you being serious? This is why I bought my new car; friend of mine died from a stroke at age of 43. Like you say; it tripped a switch. As long as you not putting yourself into diabolical financial distress; enjoy some of the fruits of your labour.

Yes, some might say a car is not worth it. Quite frankly, I get huge enjoyment from a performance car. Why do we live other than to get enjoyment? Go for it!
 
I bought in 2011 a brand new 997 carrera gts for around R1.2m ... The resale of those cars are around R1.1-1.2m

So resale value of a Porsche 911 is good and always will be. So sign it

People will always have a comment and automatically become your financial advisor (these usually are the ones with a much worse off financial position than you). If it makes you happy buy it. Cause in the end that's what we want ... Happiness ... So sign it

Reliability of Porsches is insane. You won't have the motor packing up on you. The worst thing that could happen is maybe your favorite MP3 songs might not play nice with the PCM unit ... So sign it

The way the rand is going Id rather have my money in a car like a 911 carrera than the bank ... These cars new in 2012 were like 1.2m. Second hand values of carrera are tracking the exchange euro rate (from my opinion and view ) ... So sign it

Some people buy expensive wine, paintings, others watches (values of which can exceed the value of your purchase here) ... So sign it

Haha, I'm trying need my commission on this ... Another reason: most Carreras don't have sunroofs as a mitigation factor to prevent any rain spiders entering the car to surprise you in the morning :)

I'll be taking ownership and trading in tomorrow however as we are leaving for vacation actually "delivery" will be on 2nd. Will give time to get tracker etc sorted out.
