Advice on purchasing a Porsche

And this is another reason to get a Porsche over a GTR

Rumours where the GTR was quicker at launch, but there were restrictions, conditions and voided warranties. Whereas a Porsche can do what it claims time after time, over and over.

"With this much traction and torque, the weak link is usually a car's clutch or transmission. Other cars with similar spec sheets can perform the 911's sub-3-seconds-to-60-mph feat. But if you do it repeatedly, you either void a warranty or risk being stranded."

Price difference?

I understand the price difference - and people would use pricingfor preferring the GTR.

You often got people saying R1 million cheaper and still faster than a Porsche, so they'd rather buy the GTR.

To me it like this. I will most probably be able to afford a GT-R if I don't have a bond to pay. For me to be able to afford I Porsche I would have to have, 2 jobs, no bond, no wife, no kids and then maybe just maybe I can afford one when I retire :D

Or let me put it this way: The GT-R is the poor man's Super car. "Poor" used very loosely, but you get what I'm saying :p

No a Ferrari

haha
if only

as per my earlier post, the queen of england & the queen of bantry bay (aka, the only gay in the village) have a similar taste in cars.
however, my good old mother tends to disagree, often referring to it as "that beastly agricultural vehicle" :D

Lol.
Your mother is always right!
My brother has a Land Rover and I felt the same way too!
Generally I'm not into SUV/4x4 vehicles and even the BMW/Merc softies I don't like.

On the subject of Porsche, the thing with a Cayman is that although they look good, you'll get guys cheaper cars pulling away from you at traffic lights as the hot hatches encroach on the Porsche territory.

Yes, it is a Porsche and does look great, but I think your ego is slightly deflated having the Golf R getting ahead of you and there's nothing you can do.

I was never interested in a Cayman, thinking it's just a poormans Porsche. A Boxster with a roof.

Then I watched this.

Now I think it's the best all rounder I could buy, one day when I'm big.

Not to mention that drag races are really a bit silly. It's boring for everyone.

Lap times and track times are where the fun really is. And for that even a Mini Cooper is awesome.

PORSCHE 911 Carrera PDK (991)

This is what I've settled on but the base Carrera seems to be like hens teeth.
The S is out of my budget as I planned arpund the cayman s originally.

That was a link I posted... Blue carrera base for under r1.1m but very well specced... And for. Porsche... If it's in cape town they will ship the car... Its all one company

tRoN,

Would you be interested in a McLaren 650S an associate of mine is selling, he needs to raise a bit of cash so is letting it go for R1.1mil which is a steal.

PM me if interested.

Whats wrong with it? It can't be that cheap in perfect condition.

The only word I'm focusing on is "steal".
Sounds too good to be true.

Absolutely nothing wrong with it..

Has less than delivery mileage... I know this person as well, they're very keen to get rid of it for almost no money.

They will even do delivery from Katlehong where the car is currently based
