Advice picking a new car

Oh no that was just to show that you can get an almost brand spanking new big car for similar money.
I'm not brand loyal much but personally I prefer all the bells and whistles, Accords, Mazda 6 and the like. But hatches are nice too.

I want everything from automatic wipers to seat warmers and screens. I'll compromise on age but not on comfort. That's my opinion i've bought small "mini" cars new before and regretted it paying second hand Lexus prices for new i10's just doesn't do it for me.

I'd take your bet. CITIs get nicked because they're simple, reliable and common. So do Tazzes. Vivos and Polos get nicked because they are so numerous compared to just about anything else on wheels... except Etiosesses and Corollas, which get redistributed just as much. GTIs get nicked because, well, 'GTI', and they make for fast, low-profile transport in between robberies end ATM bombings. If I were a betting man, I'd bet the rest of the VW stable don't present an appreciably bigger per capita theft risk than any other mainstream car.

As do many people. I don't know nor do I pretend to know nor can I back up what might or might not be statistically significant i'm fairly certain you also don't have the numbers since we're both betting. There might be people out there who do know the answers, please share.

Edit: Ag but in any case my suggestion was to get more luxury, theft stats or not.

There was an internal memo originating from one of the tracking companies that circulated around the 'net a year or three ago, listing the ten models that they were most often tasked to recover. The only two passenger cars that made the list were the CITI and Tazz, with the rest being mostly minibuses, SUVs and... err... specific double-cabs. I also spent nearly a decade selling VWs; were they stolen as often as some believe, I'd likely have been able to survive on the sale of insurance replacements alone after the first year. :p I don't think I ever heard of a customer of mine that had any model stolen other than those I've mentioned.
 
Get a Scirocco then at least then you can post pics for my vicarious pleasure. An UP won't get my juices flowing.
 
sooooo. I just found out that the new Fiat 500 Twin Air (900cc) is in South Africa. Base model is R180 500 and higher spec is R199 500
 
^^ You can pretend it's a mini Ferrari!! I'd get that over a UP, it's not the safe/sane choice though.
 
Because it is a Fiat, and we all know how temperamental Italian cars are
