Advice picking a new car

Not from the dealers I've spoken to. More specifically brakes are definitely included with VW and Audi.
Anyone know about Kia's maintenance plans?

So you're looking at a 2012 model with about 75 000km on the clock - so leaves me with about 1yr on the maintenance plan...

Most maintenance plans covers:
brake pads,
brake shoes,
brake discs,
brake drums,
brake linings,
battery,
wiper blades,
clutch,
shock absorbers,
globes,
timing belts and tensioners,
mountings,
V-belts,
engine drive belts,
starter motor,
alternator,
front and rear suspension (wear-and-tear, and mechanical failure only),
engine,
gearbox,
differential,
steering components, and
engine management units.
But try claiming for any of the more expensive components and see how they fight to avoid paying for it
On used\demo vehicles, prices for maintenance plans sky rockets like crazy and I would suggest rather saving the extra cash for a rainy day.
New cars + maintenance plans doesn't make much sense either...
But a new car, pay R25k for 90 000km maintenance plan, end up only replacing brake pads and wipers during that time
Most of the larger components are also covered by vehicle warranty.

I guess for me it's about peace of mind and an insurance policy

But you're spending an additional R25k for that piece of mind. You could keep that money aside and be golden.
I have mailed the DP at Suzuki to try and get details as to what their service plan includes.

I found out from a dealer this morning that the new UP 5dr will be in their showroom by the end of May. Fingers crossed (but doubtful) that they'll also have the 1.0 Turbo... I'm waiting for a response

Buying brand new, for the most part, is silly. You get better value for your money on demos, and even better on cars that are 1 to 3 years old.

Normally I'd agree, but a demo Up doesn't seem that discounted...
Do you actually want a little UP? Or would you rather have a nice family sized car?
That would be a win!
With regards to what was said many times about buying new being a bad decision, the Up would be an exception to the rule.
- It's a VW so it will depreciate less
- It will depreciate less + the maintenance plan you want will cost less on a new vehicle
- New model to the range with a turbo! more reason for less depreciation. it will sell like crazy
Demo VW - hardly ever discounted.
Brands like Renault, Hyundai, Kia, Citroen that depreciates quickly are the ones you score big with when buying a demo\used model.

I don't need a family sized car, it's only me 90% of the time and the 10% of the time my gf, and we have no plans for kids. All I want is the best value for money (for as little as possible
