I've been online via 3G for the past few years, and I use a 500MB bundle over a period of a month or two - basic email and web surfing, no video. I've now started a new job and will be working from home 3 days a week - I'll have to be online pretty much all the time on workdays, checking and updating a local website. So it's mostly text and graphics, though I will have to view some Youtube videos. I'm wondering what the best plan for me will be. I'm a bit confused by all of the terms being thrown about, such as "shaped" and "unshaped", "blended" data, etc.
Also - if my email is with gmail, would all sending and receiving of email be "international" data? (I know email is pretty light on data)
Then - what about line speed? I find the speed I get on my MTN 3G data card (1.8Mbps according to the software, but who knows what I'm actually getting) to be excellent, but when I use the my parents' ADSL internet, I find it terribly slow. What speed must I go for?
I already have a normal Telkom line.
I've had a look at the excellent article http://mybroadband.co.za/news/adsl/14064-Telkoms-new-ADSL-pricing-How-compares.html to get an idea of which companies offer what; so I'm really looking for advice in terms of what amount and type of data I should go for, and what line speed. I'm afraid I don't really have the time to read through all of the posts on the forum.
Thanks!
