LAADDDUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

Stunning goal, scores level, under 4 min to go.

SA 1 Ang 1

Dont know to much about soccer but why did they take Tshabalala off end of the first half? He looked dangerous everytime he got the ball?

Decent result. Thought that this was a must-win though really. Can't see us getting much out of Tunisia or Senegal. Our finishing was, as always, poor.

My sentiments exactly. Mhlongo (sp) must be sacked, such a poor defender. Zuma is too old, too slow and ruined all our attack setups. Van Heerden must come on for a full game, pienaar must take Zuma's place.

i dunno i think our passing is pretty slick to be honest

what i did find though was we seemed to try and get the perfect goal to much instead of just whipping in a cross

hj i think angola are actually quite strong to be honest, they attack well

look senegal for me look a blinder to win the group, i think we have to hope that angola can take something outta tunisia and we need to beat em

also we need to look at our goalie, that first goal i think he was to far off his line, i saw a couple of other chances where he seems to be about 2-3 meters off his line

i dunno maybe its a good thing maybe not

He's been like that ever since Ajax. They call him a sweeper, not a goalie. Always off the line.

Anyway, I must say I was quite impressed by the boys. I never thought they could play like that. As for playing Zuma alone, I don't think it's a good idea. He lost possession too many times. He should have been partnered by Fanteni from the start. That was the only match I thought we could win. But hey, they can put a good performance against Tunisia.

Negatives : The defending was all over the place. Mhlongo should learn to defend the danger zone and not follow the striker everywhere he goes. He left Nasief exposed on many occasiotions whilst he had drifted to the right. Goal keeper should also watch his positioning and shouldn't try and play sweeper. Flavio almost punished us with long shots from outside of the area , can't blame him for the goal though.

Tshabalala is out of his depth and too predictable, Lerato Chabangu suits Pareaira's attacking formation better i.e. attacking on the flanks with the fullbacks (Moon and Masilela) Tshabala did not cover inside or for his fullback when on overlap...instead he went on to the box and played striker (invitation for counter attacks on his side). He should watch Steven Pienaar to better understand this formation.

Fanteni is a good prospect for 2010, he will score against Tunisia if given a start. Moriri should sit this whole tournament out. He gave us nothing going forward...
My ratings of the players
Modise - 7
Pienaar - 6, Van Heerden - 9
Fanteni - 9
Chabangu - 7, Tshabalala 4
Mokoeana - 4
Mhlongo - 2
Moriri - 1
Morris - 6
Moon - 9
Masilela - 9
Josephs - 5
Zuma - 5

Btw, I'm a Sundowns fan but the two Sundowns players in the squad have been the weakest link so far.

I hate it when defenders do thick back paddling **** when the striker goes towards them. That's what Neil Tovey used to do when Steve Motsiri (Lekoelea) goes to him. Benson Mhlongo did that yesterday when Flavio went to him.
I was thinking maybe take Mokoen back to defence (he's not my favorite player though), and put Lance Davids or Dikgacoi (sp?) in that holding midfield role.

Yay Bags gave Pienaar 6!! He played crap last night!

Im still wondering how this coach cant get the team to score goals!
Nothings really changed, they didnt play well last night, ran around like headless chickens. Angola played very cautious till they scored, then they ran circles around Bafana.

We did score a stunning goal, btu its a draw and still better than a loss.

How can the goalie try and save like that? The ball went straight for him and he waved his hand across the ball?

By Sunday the competition will heat up, 2 draws in this group is good for SA, gives them a chance, but I feel the Tunisians and Senegal will step up their game and if SA doesnt its goodbye for them.

I have to disagree with you on that JK8, we did not play like headless chickens as you put it.

For the first time in a long while I actually enjoyed watching them play. We played with passion and in the opening 15 minutes we were all over Angola. Nice interplay, and them having confidence to take shots from outside the box. It is the finishing from inside the box that is of concern for me.

There were a couple of crosses from Masilela that caught the Angolans flat footed, however there was no SA player at the back post to take advantage. Fanteni came on and showed his class, not saying Moriri does not have any, but he was nowhere to be seen.

All in all, a fair result for the way both teams played. And it seemed to me the Angolans were not really prepared for this game, maybe we took them by surprise with the way we were playing.

On a second thought I'd give Pienaar a 5, :D At least he kept the shape on the right hand side, allowed Moon to go forward.

Tunisia should be easy to deal with. When they were a goal down they looked tired, dazed and confused. Their defense is also fragile as you saw yesterday, Senegal could have scored more easy goals.
Senegal is just like us, full of energy, skill and tireless running but they lack the finishing touch...

This is turning out to be an intriguing group. On Sunday sparks will fly as no team will be prepared to sit back. Maybe we should play smart against Tunisia and let them do all the running earlier on, they are not fit by the looks of things and Senegal ran circles around them.

Ok so you say we played better than normal? Woah thats scary.
I still feel the guys were chasing nothing, Flavio (I think) was taking on 2 players at a time, 3 angolans in the box and 8 from SA, Angola managed a good few passes!!!
I fell of to sleep at around the 75th minute, I heard SA played better in the last 15 minutes...

Jeez we scored a cracking goal though, left it ate but he could not of hit it better than that.

i think pienaar played very well to be honest

i also think our passing was awesome, very nice interplay between the players

we just need to sort out our defence and stop playing with 1 upfront

4 4 2 FTW

They played really well last night!!! I was pleasently surprised to see them playin as a unit...Ive got a feeling we mite jst go all the way if we keep playin like we did last nite!!
The goal from angola was against the run of play it was a good header but it was just our defence lacking a bit that gave that goal away...other than that we played superb!!

only caught the 2nd half, thought they played pretty well.... but this team will never be able to compete with any half decent team.. i hope we dont have to play ivory coast if we get through the group stages cos thats a setup for a huge embarassment :)

South Africa salvage a draw

Yesterday's game between Angola and South Africa ended in a one all . The Angolans lead for most of the match after Manucho put them in the lead after the 30th minute.

Elton van Heerden reduced the deficit after scoring in the 88th minute of the game much to the relieve of all here back at home.

Tonight Ghana should have an easy match against the minnows Namibia whilst Guinea take on Morocco and this encounter should be a good one with the vote going to Guinea to win the match
