Afrihost ADSL discount surprise

Afriman, you guys are clearly not doing it according to client subscription, rather account based. By that I mean anyone may have been with you guys for 10 years, but added a package and deleted another account etc.. Maybe that's why some people will be upset when they don't get freebies ?

Received my email however I have cancelled my account. I have been without a reliable, even if throttled, ADSL connection for almost a month now. According to AH, they will manage my ADSL line but I do not see that happening.
Router started resetting itself towards the beginning of Feb. 'Fix My ADSL Line' seemed to work temporarily but within a few hours, the line resets started again. Attempted the 'Fix...' with similar results.
10/02 - Contacted support - call logged with Telkom
14/02 - Updated call on client zone to state that no-one had contacted me
17/02 - Call from Telkom blaming my router for resets. Agreed to try another modem and update call with findings
18/02 - Attempted to update call on client zone - call had been deleted for client zone and Telkom fault reporting website (with no resolution). Surely 3 modems cannot be faulty.
23/02 - Again contacted AH support - call is still open with no resolution posted yet by Telkom.?? (Not according to Telkom's site???)
Sorry AH, but until you can get your act together aside from throttling and connectivity issues, I am sure that you will see many more users cancelling their contracts with you. What is the use of offering me a discount when all I ask is a working and reliable line?
Bye-bye

Latency = 18mS as apposed to 36mS - shweet - btw Gian you now have my 50Gig account.

Got the e-mail today ... got 63% off ... thought it was 90 - 100 :( ... still better than nothing though

Just something to give some thought to: If somebody between the first batch and the batch when their discount is afforded upgrades their package the rand value of a percentage calculator could mean they get more. I suspect the intention of the system is to give customers a bigger discount based on being an older customer and so as successive batches are processed the % would be lower. This means though that newer customers can now upgrade knowing that they'll get the % on the new pricing offsetting the original intention. As I see it if this is the case two solutions exist - one set the discount to the % of the bill on the first batch date or 2 allow customers who got the discount to get the discount on the upgrade difference if they upgrade during the promotion.

The assignment of the discount itself is totally random, we don't have a preference for age of the account. The only place where that comes in is we are loading the accounts in batches, according to when they were signed up. This seems like the most fair method, we've considered a few possibilities. With regard to upgrades, I would imagine the discount will be on the product at the time the username is loaded, so its very unlikely that products would be outdated, unless the client in question just so happens to upgrade in the short space between drawing the report and sending out the email.

If anyone out there is having this kind of issue, drop me a PM and I'll take it up with our Dev team :)

It seems from your breakdown that there were a few issues that came from Telkom and us, so must apologise that we did not coordinate this better. Sorry to hear also that you'd rather cancel than benefit from a discounted account next month. Now that our extra capacity going live is imminent, we expect that our client's internet experience will be very different.

Hope you will give it another chance. If you do, drop me a PM and we'll see what's possible for you :)

It's from 10% to 99%, so 63% is still a pretty good score :)

Thanks Afriman ... no worries.
Just deceptive reporting from MyADSL got my hopes up ... thought it was 90 to 100 cause of this:

According to initial feedback from Afrihost to subscribers the discounts typically ranged between 90% and 100%.

P.S. Now that your new IPC's are up ... this will be my last month of checking if the streaming services are working good like Israeli news, etc.

Got my mail. It says 60% discount. However the amount was calculated on a 1mb account while I am on 2mb for the past 6 months. So it is actually 35.8%

No thanks Afrihost. I too have been blatantly lied to by your incompetent staff, and wasted time & money to be networked by you.
I don't even want your abysmal services & products for free, and I will NEVER be your customer again - you can go network yourself now.

Just got 11%, not very exciting. Not really worth it.

Anyone actually get their discount - I just got my invoice for March and no sign of the discount.

You get invoiced in full (for tax and audit purposes) and then credited on a separate credit note. You should have been mailed the credit note, but check your ClientZone statement to see the actual amount that will be billed.

PM me if something's still not right :(
