Afrihost ADSL prices slashed

Well done Afrihost! Hoping that it goes the way of R29/GB and becomes permanent :)

When I signed up for the free gig they offered me 1 free + 10 gigs for R99 so I get 11 gigs for R99 at R9/gig. It seems they have reduced it by 1 gig now.

I think that its great for an ISP to be agressive enough to make such an offer. It promotes competition. I have been an Afrihost customer since they started the R29/GB and their service has been great (Seacom outages aside). I reduced my initial 5G to 1GB when WA made a great offer. I now have the 1GB account plus 1GB free.

However, for my sin of having been a long time customer, I am now not entitled to this new offer. Afrihost needs to think about their existing customers, and make sure that they also have access to great offers.

I am not looking for any more data at the moment, and even though I would not necessarily subscribe for more data, I still feel a tad bit peeved that I cannot access this great offer.

Am I looking at this differently, or did I miss something?

Also would like to know this!

If its not available through their website, how do you sign up - what am I missing. I went to the website and could not see anything about this promotion. </confused_smiley>

You won't see it on their web site.

You are only offered this deal when you sign up for the free 1 GB account. I noticed this when I signed my wife up a couple of days ago.

I think that it is a poor show not to offer the deal to existing customers who have loyally supported Afrihost. I am on the 10GB R190 p.m deal currently. I object to paying R100 more than new customers. I have been toying with the idea of switching to MWEB's uncapped account. Unless Afrihost extend this offer to me as well, they will definitely lose me as a customer.

Weird that their existing capped customers haven't been offered this. This business model is not making sense?

Yip, did exactly the same thing. I hope they honour the additional 1GB! Afrihost??? :D

All you need to do is sign up for a free 1gig account and enter a friends landline number that does not use afrihost. The free accounts only work on the line specified when you sign up for it BUT when you choose the 10gig option it is no longer a free account and you are then able to use the account from up to 3 different landlines. I have my modem signed into my R29/1gig account and my laptop signed in via a broadband dial up connection on the same modem and they both work.

i signed up for the free 1GB today but didn't get a link or anything about this promotion
how do you sign up?

lol very clever

All businesses do this, no help complaining if you're already a customer. Honestly now, existing customers should stop complaining.

If Afrihoax choose to ignore existing customers, I guess they will wait till something better come up and migrate...

I am an already existing customer, and I signed up for 2 x the R99 offer, meaning I will now pay R198 for 22 gigs, as to the opposed R258 for 15 gigs. Awesome :)
