Hi Folks,

Open for comments here, just feel I`m being shafted. SO the Afrihost website quotes "Free and unlimited data use on capped accounts between 00:00 and 06:00 everyday.
I scheduled my downloads for then and the data was consumed against my capped 200GB account, when I queried it I was told by the Afrihost support oke that I only was only allocated 60GB after hours free GB, this is in contrast to "unlimited"
Is it correct to advertise as unlimited and then apply a limit to the service.

<mod note: please edit the consultant's name from your screenshot and re-attach here>

This is my usage on Afrihost, plenty of afterhours free gigs

think that customer support agent is going to wacked for talking ****.

but let's see what afrihost says.

It is zero rated data between 00:00 and 6am. So somewhere something is wrong. I've downloaded a few times between those times, and never has it taken from my normal cap.

Well if OP was capped then the 59.567 gigs he has used after-hours would be his "limit" for after hours gigs.

I used ~400GB after hours data last month within the 16 days I was in South Africa on a 150GB Capped account. Something seems wrong there.

I'm sure there would have been complaining aplenty on MyBB if AH put one foot wrong with regards to the after hours data...

This is definitely not the case, and I think the consultant misunderstood how our After Hours data is allocated.

We don't allocated a specific amount, you have "unlimited" (as in no cap imposed) data, but because of how we display links in ClientZone, it looks like you were allocated that amount and then used all of it. We definitely do not cap or "shnack" that usage from regular cap.

We'll need to look closer into how this could have happened, if the downloads ran later than expected, or if the usage reports from Telkom were received much later than expected with incorrect time stamps (which is a long shot but theoretically possible).

But either way, the system as it works delivers exactly what is advertised in terms zero-rated bandwidth that has no cap during midnight and 6am.

You are most welcome to PM so I can try to find more info on what could have happened. This should be easy to sort out one way or another.

Also, I would really be super grateful if you would remove the consultants name from your post. Everyone makes mistakes, I'd hate for everyone's perception of him to change based on one mistake. I'll also have a chat with him about understanding how this works correctly.

No Sweat, I removed the name of the consultant - was not done on purpose to flame anyone I assure you.

Can we just ensure then that when I DL between midnight and 6am the GB`s are not consumed against my capped account please?

I have configured the tool accordingly to only run between 1am and 5am to be safe.
I DL`d about 9GB on the 12th and it seems to have been deducted from my capped acc.
I`ll check again in the next few days again before and after and let you know.

Can you do us a favour, and do a screen shot of your normal cap, just before 0:00? Then do another screen shot at around just after 6am.

Reason Is, then it shouldn't be a big time gap, between switching between your normal and midnight data. If there is still a big discrepancy, then the AH guys can investigate with their Critical Care team. But 00:00 to 6am should definitely be zero rated data, and should not be taking from your normal cap.

I must say AH Clientzone is a nightmare regarding the Zero rated data.
This is where the Vox Clientzone is light years ahead.
Get with it AH :)

** Edit **
If it wasn't for my own app I wouldn't know where I was :)

It is? I've got no issues

What's making it a nightmare for you?

Are you trying to punt your own app when Afrihost's clientzone works well enough or your router stats (if it supports it)?

The AH clientzone is pretty straightforward - A child of 5 could understand what's going on there...

Seeing we're throwing insults.

A child of 5 can read that he's complaining the clientzone doesn't split the usage between cap and zero rated.

Client Zone is one of the nicest and easiest portals to use. In fact alot of people who use both Vox and AH, believe it's much better than the Vox one. So not exactly sure what the issue is, or now much straightforward it needs to be.
