Afrihost and Steam

Hey folks,

At the moment, I have a Afrihost 2MB business account, although I only sub-sequentially get around 1MB due to my distance from the exchange (thanks to Telkom, but this will be sorted with a downgrade soon), and generally get around 110kbps on incoming traffic when I feel I need to get something.

My problem however is that, at times, when using Steam, I tend to get half speed connection randomly for most of the day. In other words I get around 55kbps.

So, I have done all the necessary, reinstalled the Steam client, changed servers many times, reset router, tried another computer, port forwarded steam ports, but this phenomena continues.

My question is, do Afrihost limit the bandwidth from steam on Business accounts? Its confusing! Simply need some advise.

Never seen that. Have a 8mbps business uncapped, get 800-850kbps on steam.

Business is a completely unshaped service.
Sounds like there may be some issues with your line and it's stability though. Have you run any tests with our Support team yet?

I could do, however the line isn't with you folks at the moment. Traffic seems stable enough elsewhere, its just steam is the anomaly.

I was on Afrihost 2mb business account, it wasn't too bad. But 4mb uncapped 50gb+50gb is better
