You should definitely not be seeing those kinds of hops on your traceroute at the moment.

Could you maybe send me a PM with the account details?

Sent you a PM. Problem is I keep doing tests, I keep sending PM's. You'll keep saying things will improve, you'll working on fixing the problem and so you'll don't live up to your words and your clients are the ones that suffer.

Join the club, we are all experiencing the same, we seem to be the testing department for AH, and don't expect anyone to contact you to give you more feedback, that just never happens.

^^ This

Frustrated - leave it that for today.

It's ridiculous. I keep saying to myself "better the devil you know, than the devil you don't" but maybe I should cancel.

You are our clients first and foremost, this comes before everything else.

The results you have provided us with is really helping us a lot, and we may not give feedback on your results immediately, we will provide everyone with an update as soon as we finally get our network running the way it should be.

question remains. How can there be so many consistent issues for the last month and half which I'm experiencing. Are they all different problems, are they the same problem?

If it's different problems is there any reason any client should expect things to change when they haven't for so long?

If it's the same problem, are you'll incapable of solving it or don't care enough to solve it? Has to be one of the two.

As much as I want to believe this, past experience shows otherwise. I get told people will call me, it never happens either, so... I cant sit around waiting for calls, I have a business to run.

The problem that happened around the start of October was purely a capacity issue across most of the regions, once the IPC upgrades was in place, things returned relatively to normal.

Last weekend the software on our Network Management Software was updated to a newer version, instead of correcting a number of issues that were lurking in the background, this simply exacerbated the issue many of our clients are experiencing. So although we now have enough bandwidth, our system is not allocating or allowing the correct volume of bandwidth to some of our users.

Our Team and the software vendors are pushing as hard as possible to resolve this and get each account running as well as it can.

To me, it has become very hard to believe Afrihost will 'fix' their network anytime soon.
As these 'issues' have been ongoing for a few months already.
Every time a change or a 'fix' is applied things get progressively worse, never better.

I also find it very hard to believe Afrihost have actually done anything to resolve this, as no one is truly forth coming?

I am not being funny, reductive or trying to shed bad light on Afrihost, Afrihost surely could have found another Supplier or Hardware Vendor other than the one they are blaming for the poor network performance.

You guys are blaming your Management System, well see if you could find another company to step in and take over.
You might say this is not that easy, but while you twiddle your thumbs people are cancelling their services, and bad mouthing Afrihost in the process, which should not be taken likely.

But in any case, this is just my 2 cents worth.

How soon do you expect it to be resolved? Today/Tomorrow/End of the week/End of the month?

I'm paying over a R1000 a month for service I'm not near enough getting. Others are paying more than me.

Once this software problem is resolved. Do you expect everything to be running smoothly or is there going to be another problem. If you continuously have problems. Do you keep saying "we're working on it" "things will get better" or do you expect your clients to move on?

Edit* As I mentioned in PM. Speed tests with my 1 gig free account runs almost normal. Back to Business account and everything is messed up.

Hi ,

Please can you do this 2 question survey?

https://www.afrihost.com/surveys/2014_afrihost_plus/

(Besides helping me out you could also win either an iPhone 6 or a Samsung Galaxy Smartphone - you decide! And it'll only take 30 seconds)

Why do I need your help?

In two days we're launching Afrihost Plus+ (you can find out what this is at the link above) which I sincerely believe will bring you and our other clients tremendous joy!

The problem is I'm not 100% sure what a fair monthly price would be, given the massive value Afrihost Plus+ adds - So I need your help to steer me in the right direction.

Thank you - I do sincerely appreciate your time and your help!

Have a wonderful day

Gian

Just got this .

I understand your frustration, but Afrihost is a large-ish company by this point, we can work on the network issue at full steam and still have our Marketing and Sales people do their job without causing any delays.

Continue like this and you'll become small very small if at all .

If it were feasible to simply move to a different vendor and have them take everything over, we would have already done so. The way in which our Network Management Software is implemented is virtually unique to South Africa, and only a handful of other companies are running it as we are in the world. There will be consequences once the issue has been resolved, of that I can assure you, but until the issue is fixed, we need to work with our vendors to resolve this.

Goes back to my question above.

When do you expect this problem to be fixed? Today/Tomorrow/Next week/End of the month/Next month?

If the software you'll implemented is so unique, do you envision more problems over the course of the next several months?

Hmmmmm... this will be a R99/month thing? Some of it might be valuable to me (haven't been a capped user in ever, though), but probably not something I'll ever sign up for.

I would think we will start seeing some good progress towards the end of the week. Once the issue is resolved I believe each user will have a significantly better experience before, and I have a feeling the entire system is being rebuilt, so I do not think it is likely to recur once it is resolved.

There are quite a few other services included that will ensure Afrihost Plus is relevant to all of our users. :)

I can't wait for you guys to try to out!

Not the answer I was looking for but at least it's something little more definitive. Guess will have to suffer with dial up speeds till then. Won't be able to do much work unfortunately.

If things don't improve, I do have till 25th to cancel my account, right?

Another question. Why do I get normal speed with 1 gig capped account and not with business account?
