Awesome, up and going on WA. This has happened a few times already, be rather nice if they just sorted it out.

Any of you guys have the same experience on WA?

Don't know, as I said it was just there response. I also tried changing the DNS but no luck. They do know about the issue and are trying to fix it.

I am sure there are a lot of people affected by this.

This was the email I got from them,

Good day,

I trust you are well :)

Thank you for your query,
we are aware of the issue here and can assure you that it is not a fault on the line or anything on your end.

The problem of how the DNS resolves websites and services lays on MTN's network,
I have been instructed to inform you that MTN is currently in process of resolving the issue.

In my honest opinion, this should be resolved shortly.

If you are still experiencing this issue by 8pm, please let me know so I can troubleshoot further.

Have a great weekend further,
Kind Regards,
Jason De Klerk

It is know 20:21
Know it is 1 to 2 hr

SO this is exceptional.

I cant do anything but basically run SSL connections using my afrihost business account,
I have to switch over to another ISP to access this website and log a ticket on afrihost website.

gg

No throughput at all here in Cape Town at the moment.
Seems to be an MTN issue, as my Axxess account is also suffering.
Web Africa, MWEB and Telkom accounts working.

@Afriguy / Man

times like these I wish that awesome looking network status page you have will be updated

I really don't understand how difficult it can be to give people the service they are paying for. And that mother f***** status page shows all is fine.
On Telkom account all is still fine. Afrihost account not transferring any http data.

So it's still down at the moment? I was about to try it out. Guess I'll stay on Web Africa then. Can't believe an ISP can be completely down for so long.

I can't believe their complete lack of communication on the issue. We'll get Gian begging for forgiveness 7 months after the SH*T hits the fan. I'm so sick of this.

It is weird. You'd think total system failure would have alarms going off at Afrihost HQ and people frantically running around. Or at least result in one lone soul updating their social media accounts and status page.

Can just imagine all the bull the Afri Reps will be spinning on Monday - remember how they requested all those traceroutes for months, knowing full well their network was at fault.
Afrihost has lost all credibility as an ISP for me

Anybody got recommendations for a better ISP than Afrihost?
My requirements are:
  • Have a stable network
  • Actually do something about network issues
  • Business accounts with no shaping/limits
  • Reasonable price.

They're probably chuckling in the corner thinking of what we must provide next. Latency when spinning around with your pants on your knees.

You won't find an uncapped and unshaped account anywhere else for a similar price. Axxess is essentially the same product as Afrihost, so don't look there. Web Africa seem to be a very reliable ISP, so maybe poke around their website and see what's what.

LOL! so i sent AfriGuy everything he requested and now my internet don't work at all since last night, getting no reply from him as well.....

pop in my free webafrica account and everything connects/loads fine.....cant wait for them to take another R700 and i dont have internet ./end sarcasm

Edit:
so Bnet is not connecting, steam, local sites and some international sites are working, also getting no reply since yesterday from them. This is by far the BEST support i have EVER had.....they even beat telkom's support

At 20:00 last night support say 1-2 hr know still not working no 24 hr support

It is completely unacceptable, same story here, they said 4 hours last night at 7pm, still not working this morning. Had to resort to my Telkom capped account.

No communication from the CEO, nothing on their site. All this after getting an e-mail from Gian on 26 Nov saying the following.

Gian - Afrihost.com <[email protected]>

.....

I just wanted to followup on the email I sent you last week regarding our launch of Afrihost Plus+, my apology about our ADSL network and the dilemma I was facing.

......

Gian
CEO, Afrihost

GIAN, where r u now? All we ask for is some feedback, update your site with the status. We know there will always be problem when it comes to tech. All we ask for is customer service.

Hi guys

I'm sincerely sorry about the lack of feedback here, I understand that the South IPC has been an issue since yesterday.
We are working hard on getting this sorted out - I'll have any updates posted here as soon as they're available.
