Where were u last night Afriman! Seems like you got the ball rolling, can we duplicate you :-)

LOL.
As much as I'd like to say I helped fix it, I didn't :( Got home from a family holiday earlier this morning and saw things where a little pear shaped. Coincidence that it was fixed up after I arrived ;)

Just to update you guys quickly, monitoring looks to be returning to normal and we're seeing good reports on Twitter/ Facebook. We'll continue to monitor though. I'm gonna need more coffee!

AfriGuy I just want to understand how come it takes Afrihost 12+ hours to update the status on the site. Lots of people have been complaining about this slow response, but we've seen no improvement. That is the first port of call for lots of people, but we end up having to resort to forums to figure out problems.

This lack of immediate transparency is probably the biggest thing currently driving me away as a customer. Your customer service and openness was the reason I switched to you in the first place.

I don't want Gian begging for forgiveness weeks after issues surface. I want to go to your site and see there is a balls up in my region. It is not mass panic when you say on the site we've received reports of xyz happening. More updates coming.

Really disappointing service again for the nth time.

Anybody got recommendations for a better ISP than Afrihost?
My requirements are:
  • Have a stable network
  • Actually do something about network issues
  • Business accounts with no shaping/limits
  • Reasonable price.

You won't find a similar account for a similar price as Afrihost was selling the account below cost. That's why they are suffering now.

WebAfrica Business is awesome is awesome, but you'll have to try download a bit at midnight at least.

For real no limits uncapped you need Business Pro which is double the price.

Hi guys

I'm sincerely sorry about the lack of feedback here, I understand that the South IPC has been an issue since yesterday.
We are working hard on getting this sorted out - I'll have any updates posted here as soon as they're available.

Really? You only saw you have issues the following morning?!?!?!

This is starting to become pathetic now, really...

I hope it will work when i get home...coz i am upset(insert much stronger word) as since last night my internet was dead and i could not access most international and local sites, i could youtube(and only certain clips not even what i wanted) and gmail and facebook but that was about it.........

Seriously thinking of moving to Telkom 10mb uncapped as it will cost the same and i could still do the same as what I'm doing with this account

Looks like pretty severe congestion. I can imagine this must be really awful :(

So this is it? Telkom just saying they don't see congestion, if there is I need to contact my ISP but it's out of Afrihost's hands and I should just make peace with being F***ed :( Those telkom reps you talk to are SO clueless  A previous time I asked them how to report exchange congestion and the guy had NO CLUE what i was talking about... Asked if I could repeat it in layman's terms :wtf: He actually forwarded me to an accounts department after I repeated the question a couple of times... :( no jokes...

Things seem to be mostly okay on my end now. Surprisingly quick on downloads too, today's the first time I've ever seen task manager record no hiccups in download speed.

throughput 7 dec.JPG

I can even stream Twitch with no issues for now. I hope it stays like this.

YouTube borked again??? No local cache anymore?

All Google sites are now being routed internationally.

Even 240p buffering, oh the joy...

i have had enough, I will be moving on, found a reasonable package with a different ISP, costs a bit more but it should be worth it....

My 1GB WA account is going to run out soon. This is ridiculous. It's almost been 24 hours.

Lol, at one point I asked to talk to a supervisor, technical department sent me to sales -> sent me to accounts -> sent me to repairs or something -> finally ended back up at technical -> hung up.

@AFRIHOST, please an update on the issue that the business accounts are not working!!!

Here we go again!!!!!
Latency through the roof.... Still having issues browsing.
Telkom Tech just left my house (YES! On a Sunday!)... line test perfectly on both his modem and my router, and on 4 different ISP accounts.
Afrihost accounts (Business and Capped) STILL causing problems.

W T F ???????

Shame. Why did you have Telkom send someone over when we're all aware that Afrihost has collapsed in the South? You could have tested a free Web Africa or Telkom guest account yourself.

AfriGuy what is the point of addressing a question to you if you don't respond.

Thank you Captain obvious....
I have done ALL the tests, logged a ticket with AH (as asked by AfriGenie on Thursday), they decided to hand it over to Telkom. Today, to my surprise, I got a call from a Telkom Tech in the area. I thought, what the hell... let him come out and make sure there's nothing wrong with my line. He changed my route to the ISAM, trying to shorten the distance and improve line stats. Did more tests, ALL OK ON MY SIDE (AGAIN).

Point is, my ticket with AH was logged for this exact reason BEFORE all the crap on the MTN network ("DNS" issues). Now it's much worse... it worked for 5 minutes, and dead again.

Getting a little tired of swapping accounts just to be able to browse.

PS. Nobody likes a smart-ass :p

Yip, I know, can't stream anything higher than 480p and that evens buffers at times.....
But Afriguy says it's an isolated incident and not affecting everyone.....
When I leave soon, guess it's not going to affect them as well....

I have a felling something is wrong on the Telkom ME Network in KZN (DBN IPC's).

Packet Loss and Latency are not right at all, across all ISP's in KZN.

I have now tested with Mweb, IS, Afrihost, Cybersmart & Vox which all show higher than normal latency and Packet Loss.
The Packet Loss and Latency seems to come in at Hop 3 which is the ISP IPC Hand over.

Hop 2 remains constant at 5-6ms across all 5 of my DSL lines.

Never mind the MTN Google Local Cache has disappeared, that is another story.
