Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback - 2

Hey Afri* looks like latency has only improved now, but would like to let you know that the consultants I dealt with yesterday evening seemed to have no idea about the ongoing latency problems as evidenced by the response I received later (#HGX-473-96170).

It would perhaps be mindful of letting your support chaps know that there is / was / might be latency issues arising in the south until you have managed to iron out a guaranteed fix.

Also the traceroutes below are markedly shorter than those from last night to www.afrihost.com (9 hops vs 19)

Too true mate, also an aside with windows 10 dropping 29 July (last estimate I saw) are provisions being made that we don't end up with a repeat of the great iOS debacle especially since I understand if you have "reserved" your upgrade it will be automatically downloaded?

Anyone at AH still around?
AH, just want to find out - I have an app on my note 4 called intrace which shows a traceroute on a map. Now according to this app, (in performing a traceroute to www.afrihost.com) I am routed via Cape Town. Now I am in the JHB area so is there any way to verify that I am indeed being routed through Cape Town?

I know our team are aware of the big dates that are looming, I'm personally not aware of any plans - that won't mean there aren't any though :)

You can paste a traceroute here and I can check the hops. Some traffic may be routed via CPT based on the final destination though.
Some cable breakouts are in CPT.

Well just before 5pm latency dropped to 60ms again, not great but better.
Now it is back up in the 100's again, freaking yo-yo like latency.
So over this now, maybe I should just bite the bullet and cancel.
It is going to be fun moving 8 lines away from Afrihost. :mad:

Not sure if this does truly route via CPT. afrihost.com is hosted in JHB, could be that geo-IPs are reporting incorrectly.

Would there be any way to find out for sure that I am not routing through Cape Town? I'm looking at all options here to try get my speeds up.
Really had enough of s****y speeds in the evenings and over weekends.

I think there where line issues linked to your connection?
If you were being routed via CPT incorrectly there would be duplicated hops. Nothing out of the ordinary here.
 
And another evening that there is no connection to any Usenet providers on Business.
Normal capped works, other ISP's Works but Afrihost Business does not.

And the reply from support? Please send us more traceroutes and speed test

Yeah there are line issues - since Feb. But seeing as though nothing is being done (no ETR from Telkom), I am looking at the situation from all angles. And yes, maybe grasping at straws, but better than doing nothing.
