Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback - 2

3 Weeks of constant issues and I am a new client. Sorry to say, but where do you cancel the service?

Really sorry that it hasn't been the best for you, we know that speeds aren't that great for now - although seeing much more positive feedback :)
Remember that upgrades are on the way so that means an improved overall experience.

If you still want to cancel, it can be done via the ClientZone.

I only have Android devices. I'm sure their backup sync isn't going to take up 100% of the upload, though... right?

It doesn't seem like it should be a problem with uploading, though. I use Google Drive and Dropbox all the time and they absolutely annihilate the upload while only making the ping worsen by ~80ms.

It managed to max my 2Mbps upload easily. No idea why it would need that much bandwidth..

Reading all of this feedback i find it totally unprofessional that Afrihost have not released a public statement on this matter. It's clear they have serious capacity issues, yet they seem to think it's acceptable to use a thread on a forum to communicate on this issue. How many affected users are aware of this channel? A tiny tiny minority. I wasted way too much time engaging Telkom support and assisting their techies only to find out the issue isn't with them. And this capacity issue has been going on quite some time. Had Afrihost thought a little about the customer they would have emailed all affected users from day one and informed them of the issues and planned remedy. Instead the official tactic is smoke, mirrors, denials and obfuscation.

This is not the first time Afrihost has had problems of this kind. I would have thought they would have learnt by now how to plan and implement capacity upgrades timeously. Unfortunately this is not the case.

For me Afrihost can no longer be classes as a business grade ISP. They should really consider removing 'business' from the product name as it misleading.

Stay with them if you want, but as a business user i simply cannot afford it any longer!

Actually Afrihost story can be a fantastic Business School case study about how NOT to run a company and how NOT to handle crisis :D

I can't download any apps from the Windows store. The apps in my Installations list will either stay stuck at "Downloading" or "Pending" and there's no other network activity at the same time, so I'm quite sure I'm not throttling myself. Happens on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 on my desktop and laptop.

Anyone else seeing this issue?

I'm losing my mind trying to stream tonight. November can't come fast enough.

Doesnt sound like a ISP issue, its probably overloaded servers.

6MB supposedly, right?
Syncing at 6144kbps, yet STILL sitting with this rubbish that I must pay full price for.

Yet another support ticket opened.
And I get told it is line attentuation doing this. BULL****!

I have just come from my neighbour across the road who has a Telkom 4MB ADSL line and is getting a full 4MB, and he is on the same exchange as we are. I log into his router with my AH details, and crap line speed that does not even fully load the Speedtest page. It bombs out after a while.

Attenuation my left nut......

As soon as I switch to WA capped, everything works just fine. On Afrihost? Nothing.

What the hell is causing that? I can understand torrents and P2P, but Windows Store downloads?

Edit: I can also confirm that I can download store apps with a capped account, but not my Business account.

I switched to my free 1GB Web Africa account and streaming works fine. Wish doing this occurred to me earlier.

it seems that everything is being shaped, except streaming and a few other protocols...online gaming for me is a no go, so much lag that I need to spread it around....This is ridiculous, PM'd both Afriman/Guy about the online gaming and nothing has been done in over a week, except for destiny and archage....

Finally cancelled my Business Uncapped 10Mbps package.. Speeds have been terrible the last month. Going to try a WA Business capped account. Hope Afrihost manages to sort out their network and good luck to those who are staying with them!

PS. I have been following this thread for a while and the feedback as to the reason for the terrible speeds from AH in general has been poor. It is obviously a capacity issue and whilst I can appreciate they have ordered more, I am not prepared to wait around whilst they try and resolve it.

Opening this page took some time.

Not worth the money for the business uncapped at the mo.

Only way is the capped accounts, then one cannot be bull****ted but then they will just pull another move some how.

2 hours 22 min for a 100 mb file...

I agree with BGE. As an example, I raised connectivity issues last week about Destiny PS4 issues and was brushed off with some genetic excuse that PSN is having issues despite a number of other users raising the same issues.

Now all of a sudden I read that Afrihost has announced that they will actually purchase the game test it out and see if there are "unusual" traffic patterns causing the issues.

To be honest, other ISPs don't have the issue and it is very patronising and arrogant to disregard individual feedback and it looks that your support staff could just not be bothered to assist.

While you might enjoy your best ISP award for this year, if you continue like this you can be glad to be still in business next year as your level of customer service has slipped below mediocre and has turned worse than Mweb ( something I thought would not be possible)

Reply to my support ticket:

"Good Day,

I trust that you are well.

We do apologize for the degraded internet experience you are getting at the moment.

There is a high bandwidth on the network that is affecting all accounts and as a result clients are getting limited speeds when using their accounts. This is due to a network congestion and we have ordered new hardware in order to relieve network pressure and once this has been installed your speeds should return to normal.

Please feel free to let us know if we can be of any further assistance. Please have a great day.

Kind Regards,
Jan-Britz."

Ja, whatever........

Just because support isn't around right now, I thought I would quote Afriguy to put everyone's minds at ease.

Just who are these people with the positive feedback, I don't see it in this thread.....

And my reply:

"Thank you for the reply.

So until the time this whole issue is resolved, I must continue paying full price for a service that does not deliver what is guaranteed?

And I quote:

"Business DSL offers Premium, unmetered, unshaped and prioritised bandwidth 24 hours a day"

and:

" Business DSL accounts are Guaranteed to be completely unshaped at all times"

and:

"These packages have prioritised bandwidth. That means NO Shaping, NO Throttling, just pure speed when you need it most"

So, in essence, I have been paying full price for the last two months for a severely degraded service, and will have to pay full price at the end of this month as well.
That is not acceptable."

I have now had it with the run around answers from AH in this, and the other thread.
Plainly put, AH is NOT living up to their very own guarantees that they continue to brag about on their website.
False advertising is false advertising.
