25th is looming.....
If I do not get the 6MB connection I am paying for, I am out of this AH "contention" nightmare and taking my hard earned money elsewhere.

If your IPC upgrade does by some miracle happen before thos Friday, I will consider staying on for another month.

I'm really sorry that you are so unhappy. One of the reasons we have a month to month service is that we don't want to lock you into a service you are not happy with. It's up to us to deliver before the end of the month so you can make your decision, and I really do hope we will be able to do so with Telkom's assistance.

Ridiculous right now. Can't stream anything. Getting worse.

I'm really sorry about that. I know you've been having a poor experience for a while now. I promise we're gonna keep doing whatever we can to improve your performance until we get upgrades and I'm pretty sure these issues will be behind us :(

The thing that really push my buttons is that before this "upgrade" when everyone was complaining about the issues my internet was at least workable, like streaming wasn't too bad and gaming was fine accept for the occasional spike or so. But now it's all going about as fast as a snail uphill........

I'll wait for this "miracle IPC capacity" to "fix" the issues in the south(CT) and see where we go from there.........

I think by the time we were able to announce the upgrade, we'd already seen demand rise so significantly that it was visibly affecting performance for many clients. Demand has continued to rise, so until we get upgrades, we may continue to see periods where performance is poor. We're constantly working with MTN to make the network as efficient as possible, but efficiency is also impacted by congestion without having enough headroom to manage demand better. So once we have more capacity, we'll see improvement across the board.

Same here, not going to fall for promises of "upgrades within 10 days" that will just lock you in for another month.

We definitely don't want to lock you into an agreement you are not happy with, which why we always take the risk by sticking with month to month agreements. Hopefully we'll deliver a better experience in the period Telkom have promised, but the choice is always in your hands. I do hope that you continue to put your trust in us and we can make good on that - totally respect your decision either way.

I've mostly had streaming issues up til now, but last night normal Https downloads/Steam updates got affected as well. I was only able to download at 70-90kB/s on a 2Mbps line last night.

Speedtest indicates full speed, as usual(1.75Mb/s), but this did not get reflected on the downloads. Ping was normal - 18ms. Also, sometimes, I had to reload websites twice, since it didn't wanna load on the first tries.

Any reason why this would be increasing now? It surely can't be capacity alone, since speedtest is testing as it should. This is getting a tad frustrating.

Can't authenticate atm. Rebooting router for umpteenth time. Anyone else having issues?

Edit: Tried my 1GB free Web Africa account and it connected instantly. Godamnit Afrihost.

We shouldn't have been having authentication issues last night, at least none that I am aware of.

If you still can't log on, please PM me ASAP :(

Same Problem here again.. My line Disconnected on 06-10-2014 and now 22-10-2014 00:30 for no reason.. Can't authenticate any Account I try and Rebooting Router..

Please PM me if you can't auth, there definitely shouldn't be any issues with this :(

Maybe that's because you continue to sell your products when you knowingly have insufficient capacity.

What we're seeing is that during heavy demand, some services don't perform well and it's difficult to predict which ones will suffer. We believe it's due to contention and how some services utilise bandwidth. Until we get the additional capacity, it will be very difficult to troubleshoot.

We are well aware of how many new clients we are taking on, but the increase in demand is mostly due to an increase from existing clients. The rise is demand is well above the uptake of new clients on the network, by a huge margin.

This is Afrihost Business strategy . Selling law quality bandwidthy for a law price . When they have a lot of bandwith they came out with specials . Load the system until it chokes ( Like in this case ) get more bandwidth , came with specials and so on .
When they'll get the new capacity they will come with specials , load the system and in a few months problems again .

There WERE authentication issues last night (around midnight). My Internet dropped twice. Obviously some "upgrade" happening.

Also spent over R100 on cap from Plugg this month so I can get fullspeed when I need it, and I am on 10mbps Business. Go figure.....

I've just received notification of a major Telkom outage in Johannesburg. It looks like the major links for the wider Joburg region are giving problems and many clients will not be able to authenticate. We're still investigating, but Telkom have posted as follows:

WF13302661 2014-10-22 09:37 Germiston Rosebank,Pretoria and NEW DOORNFONTEIN Link - we have links that are down ADSL users, Dialup users, SpaceStream users, Leased Line users, WiMax users, WiFi users, All users will experience no connectivity. All users will experience no connectivity.

I think our business strategy is well known, we do whatever we can to give our clients the best experience. We've proven that over 14 years and we'll continue to prove that we give clients the best overall experience.

Not that I am aware of. It may have been a regional Telkom issue, but definitely not a general auth outage that I am aware of. I can always check your area if there was an outage that anyone in the team was aware of (unfortunately Telkom don't display outage history)

This year beside June July there was NO one month without issues . It's OK people get what they paid for .

For people like me who have low speed business accounts (1-2meg) we see no issues. I get full speed any time of the day. I think when you start to go higher speeds it struggles.

Thing is you are hoping the upgrades will take place at the end of the month...but if I don't cancel my account before the 25th, I am locked in for another month.

There is an option to PAUSE the account... haven't tried it myself to know how well it works, but it might help, especially if you already have another ISP account that you are using ;)
