@AfriMan

We decided to upgrade to the business uncapped last night.
We're on the 4mbps so in the Bundle Order Form I chose 4mbps business uncapped with 4mbps DSL line speed.
At the Existing products step I chose the 4mbps business uncapped and then chose our existing ADSL line which says "up to 10mbps" and then also chose the option saying that it should change the product to "up to 4mbps".
It said the Bundled Monthly Cost is R 797.00.

When I got back into the clientzone after all the steps, it said the bundled cost is R897

I though I'd try to bundle them again, thinking MAYBE I clicked something wrong with the DSL line, but now I can't bundle them anymore. It just says an error occurred?

Just want to try and figure out what we will be charged on the 1st and how to bundle them again?

Thanks for any assistance.

PS. The Business uncapped is just wow! Absolutely amazed!:D

There may be some pricing 'wobbly's' due to all the changes in Telkom lines. I also find that some bundles have 'sticky' prices and unbundling sorts out the pricing correctly. Our dev team are investigating this as well.

Drop me your deets on PM and I'll see what's what in your ClientZone :)

We did pass on the line upgrades for free - for now we'll be leaving data prices as is until the upgrades settle. Then we'll set of a small broadband explosion to blow our competitors away ;)

So if I am on a 4mb business uncapped what will I upgrade to for free???

My Telkom line synchs at 8mb/s

Hi all,

My pings to the battlefield 4 servers have gone backwards the last few days. I got 9 ms pings to the CPT based servers, but that's now running at 29MS. Played on a JHB server last night and that was running at 130+MS. Speedtest also showed a higher ping to CPT based servers.

Anyone else maybe experiencing this?

Edit

To add to the above, here my last few speedtest results.

Date Ping

28.11.2013 6:25 PM SAST 105.237.38.81 1067.4 kB/s 105.1 kB/s 27 ms Cape Town

30.10.2013 10:32 PM SAST 105.237.38.104 1031.8 kB/s 92.8 kB/s 7 ms Cape Town

One can see that the pings were wonky last night @ 64MS, previously it was 7MS and 18MS

Sounds like your local city exchange congestion. Run this tool and it will give us a clear idea of what is wrong :)

Can you guys afford to do this with all the shaping going on, on the normal uncapped you have?

They are going to be getting more bandwidth in January (My estimate, don't hold Afrihost against that date)

26ms to the exchange is definitely not normal. It's not "bad", but it should ideally be under ~16ms (1Mb line) or about 7-10ms (~10Mb line)

+1
How long has this been going on for? If its more than a day, I would log a fault with telkom :(

The whole day?
Check your line stats. Mine dropped because of the weather. Got 10KB/s on a 10Mb line, but it seems to be sorted now.

So if I am on a 4mb business uncapped what will I upgrade to for free???

My Telkom line synchs at 8mb/s

If you're synced at 8Mbps, your line is essentially on the 10Mbps (DSL3) tier and won't be subject to a change in price. So your bundle pricing is not going to change unless you downgrade your line to 4Mbps for a saving.

Got upgraded to 4meg from 2meg yesterday (Thanks Telkom)

However my speedtest is giving me 512k speeds, 40kbps downloads.

Traceroutes show uncongested exchange but terrible quality a few hops into the route.

I would at least expect my line to be limited by my 2meg uncapped account

Definitely looks horrible - must play havoc in game :(

Can we see the full trace through so we can see where the latency is introduced?

We'll only really make a splash when our new capacity lands - we don't want to place additional burden on our network. We've loaded only a provisional amount of the capacity we ordered and only part of the order was able to be installed for now. We're seeing enough improvement that we feel that we'll be OK at the very least through the holidays - and hopefully we'll get the rest as early as possible.

And then - KABOOM ;)

These high pings on the second hop are very concerning. Do you get the same on another network or ISP account or a Capped account?

Seems to suggest congestion - but we'd need to test before we jump to conclusions on this :(

been getting really slow speeds on my 6mb line today, JHB area. Any known issues?

There were quite a few Gauteng exchanges, especially pretoria, that had problems from the heavy storms last night. Lots of fried routers too :(

We're seeing most exchanges coming back up now - but still some intermittent and unstable results at the moment.

Which area specifically?
