This is bad news. I use Twitch A LOT.

Me too, ±130GB usage per month and I would say 90% of it is Twitch. I cannot describe the feeling of coming from a cheaper ISP where Twitch worked well 90% of the time and 100% after hours, never any buffering, and then paying R100 more for a service that is supposed to be superior, and getting buffer every 20 - 30 seconds. I got home at 01h00 this morning and I just could not take it, still buffering. When I want to relax and watch Twitch, it must be 100%. The generic reply of basically blaming Twitch did not help either. I decided **** it, let me go with my gut and go back to my original ISP's 2Mbit package. And boy is it fast, my Speedtests are 10% faster than AH and it's far snappier. And it's a home product.

That's not to say that AH doesn't work really well for many, many happy users. Just something not right for me.

One other strange issue is that I could not load the AH Client Zone most of the time while on my AH account. I had to connect to other accounts to access it.

Bizarre.

I had the same experience with AH. I'm not a Twitch user but overall it wasn't a great experience for me.

Finding the correct ISP seems to be a very personal thing, find what works for you.

Has your line been upgrade from 2Mbit to 4Mbit? Or did you downgrade to 1Mbit (now 2Mbit)?

My line has been 1Mbs upgraded to 2Mbs.

The strange thing is Twitch was working fine on medium up until last night... it only buffered on high every 20s to 30s and now it is doing this buffering on medium all the time.

I remember when I 1st signed up for the business AH account, Twitch did not even load for the 1st few days, then that was fixed and it has been fine.
Will have to wait and see I guess if there is a known issue or if it fixes itself again.

There is no issue with anything else at all on my AH business account, it is all hundreds, except Twitch and its 20s buffering.

That's interesting, since they say the capped and Business uncapped bandwidth are effectively the same "profile".

Then why does 2Mbit Business uncapped buffer, and (2Mbit) capped not?

I am still having issues with P2P / torrents on my 10MB Business Uncapped, not to mention the same issues signing into the AH ClientZone. I have to chop and change between 2 different browsers to get it to load. Also, it seems that what I see in the panel is NOT what AfriMan and AH support sees.... there is definitely a HUGE issue with their network in Cape Town.

I repeat, " STOP SIGNING NEW CLIENTS " "TAKE CARE OF THE EXISTING CLIENT BASE" WE ARE PAYING A PREMIUM PRICE FOR A SERVICE WHICH YOU ARE NOT DELIVERING AFRIHOST"

Being told that you need to run further tests only Monday, while this issue has been going on the whole week, is not good service at all.

:(

...and in my case, both accounts won't allow torrent traffic through, even though I have asked for a port change.

I see you've disabled the setting in your CZ. That is weird.

Where in Cape Town are you?

Want to post a tracert?

You can see how the below ones differ on the 7th hop. An IP lookup shows different MTN equipment, even though we are about 1km from each other and connecting to the same exchange.

I'm not entirely sure what this means, but it could be a different routing profile, for lack of a better term.

You're right... I chatted to a Telkom technician last week while he was tending to a friend's line in Milnerton... he mentioned that in all the upgrades, certain equipment at the exchanges had to be replaced/upgraded, but they left the users on the affected lines connected to both for redundancy. He said that it is possible that a lot of lines are becoming "confused" and subsequently locking up, or having to reconnect. This kind of thing will affect your line, no matter what ISP you have. The different ISP accounts are then routed differently based on whatever agreements they have with Telkom. This might explain why I get the same speed on torrents (6kB/s max.) no matter which ADSL account I use from my house.

FYI, I am in Sunningdale, just past Table View.
My father is in Milnerton.

Signed up to AH Business 2meg last night. Before sleeping I loaded NZBs and Torrents and it all looked good (promising speeds)

This morning they are all dead, 0.2kb/s from torrents/nzbs

Any issues?

Check in the control panel, there is protocol something, or P2P shaping, turn it off.

Thanks a lot (is NZB/Usenet considered P2P? I don't see why it would shape that heavily)

Anyways will test in 30minutes. Last time I was on AH Business it was Deactivated by default

Hello. See that HelterSkelter gave you a suggestion on how you can fix the slow speeds. Did that help?

Thank you for that information. Will follow up with our team and see if we can verify this - the first part about the upgrades and the exchanges.

:(

We got additional capacity at the end of last year and we have noticed an improvement on the network. Sorry that you have not had the same experience. Have you run any additional testing on the issue you have been having? How is it looking today?

We weren't reporting an specific issue on Twitch yesterday. How is it looking today?

Bizarre.

Really sorry to see you haven't had a good experience with us. We are always willing to troubleshoot and try see what the problem is but that is dependant on you. Thanks for giving us a try.

With regards to your previous message :
"I've just cancelled my Business account one day after signing up. Signed up with another ISP (gone back to my original one), Twitch working perfectly and R30 cheaper per month.
Pity, I like Afrihost.
AfriGuy, I mailed support about it. I would appreciate it if I'm not billed, or at least billed pro-rata for one day of use (1.7GB). I'm not interested in double my money back."

We can't stop the debit order as the charges have already gone through. You can send me a PM and I can see what we can do.

Very very impressed and happy with my 6Mb account!

Doing some STEAM game re-installs (HDD died last month.....), and looky here:
View attachment 102777

It is going along at over 500k/sec consistently and check that peak! I have been keeping an eye on it and it has been over 2Mb on a few occasion in the last 2 hours.

#Nooice!
