Got my account setup yesterday, so far so good.

Great support from the call center, there were a couple of issues getting the account up and going but all sorted.

VPN to the office is much better, can actually work remotely now :)

Awesome! :)

Have a wonderful, internet filled week!

Really sorry to see you haven't had a good experience with us. We are always willing to troubleshoot and try see what the problem is but that is dependant on you. Thanks for giving us a try.

With regards to your previous message :
"I've just cancelled my Business account one day after signing up. Signed up with another ISP (gone back to my original one), Twitch working perfectly and R30 cheaper per month.
Pity, I like Afrihost.
AfriGuy, I mailed support about it. I would appreciate it if I'm not billed, or at least billed pro-rata for one day of use (1.7GB). I'm not interested in double my money back."

We can't stop the debit order as the charges have already gone through. You can send me a PM and I can see what we can do.

Thank you, I'll send you a PM with my ticket number. I will need to look into your money back guarantee if my (fairest) requests cannot be processed.

This part is interesting.

Agreed, and i.got~issues has a 2Mbit line, so it's not as if his capped account is running faster.

Any comments from Afrihost on this, given that capped/Business bandwidth has teh same profile?

At the moment, one can only assume that some sort of shaping is being applied on Business.

Nope, still buffering every 20-30 seconds on Medium settings with my Business Unshaped Uncapped.
No buffering on medium on my free 1GB Afrihost account.

It depends what is running on your account at the time. Business and Capped are the same, they use the same rules. If you switch accounts, is all the stuff that was running on the Business account also running on the Capped account?

Does anyone use NTV on business uncapped 10mb?

Besides browsing and nntp, this is the service we use for random TV - I don't want to be spending +-R1400 and end up with something barely usable again for a month.

It seems the home account is a no go.

Well when testing yesterday, it was just the laptop, browser and Twitch.
Punch in 1GB login details into router, try Twitch live stream, no buffer.
After a while, punch in AH Business login details into router, continue to watch Twitch live stream, buffering every 20s.
After a while, repeat again on 1GB - no buffer.

This morning, early, similar test, only laptop and browser ... same results.

Now will have a fair bit open, dropbox, skype chat and TeamViewer, so pointless trying until after work.

The download speeds on my 6Mbps have been amazing lately. Speed testing at 5.9Mbps (sync at 7Mbps), and multithreaded httpdownloads and torrents are peaking at 740KB/s. Awesome.

Noob here. On Telkom internet at the moment. Am I correct when I assume I can expect full torrent speeds 24/7 or very close to full speeds 24/7 on a afrihost business uncapped account?

Afrihost Business is totally unshaped. My torrents run 100% any time of day.

at the end of this month i will move to AH-B 6mbps

icant wait

and the new site looks awesome :D

all this talk about business not running full speed ,kinda makes me worry if i made the right choise
but i have to see how it goes,

anyways, the usage tracker ,how far can it go back? just wondering :)

Not a good start, started off with a bang, now seem to be getting 400-580KB/s on 10MB. Definitely nothing to do with my line, because the 1GB account was fine, and my line was fine prior to moving.

Queued up a load of crap I don't need, getting a continued fluctuation between 400 and 800KB/s, usually sits at 500KB/s. This won't be acceptable at this cost. Submitted a support ticket about a hour ago... will see how it goes.
