Any updates on the Twitch.tv streaming issues? Medium is still buffering for me every thirty or so seconds. Haven't been able to watch high quality for some time now :(

YT 720p is fine

Afriman My line which is normally fine is messed up lately. It will be fine then all of a sudden this happens?

Definitely, definitely a line/exchange issue :-( Youll have to report a fault to Telkom. Could also be exchange congestion.

Please run it again with these extra arguments:

tracert -w 100000 google.co.za

and post the results :)

My home uncapped has no twitch buffering at the moment? What line speed do you have again?

Nope
Twitch still buffering every 20s here... has been since this time last Saturday.

Also, getting some weird "slow-down" patches every now and again...

Okay, something is wrong. You seem to be having packet loss :/ Please would you connect via a LAN cable and see what happens :)

Edit: OH! And which browser and AV are you using?

There is definitely something up with your line/exchange :-(

See those bolded parts - they should be under 20ms :/ You'll have to report a line fault with Afrihost/Telkom (or both... that works too :D)

Thanks Mr Z.

Will indeed do just that with Telkom, the ADSL circuit is with them.

It is intermittent... working great then wobbles for a few hours in the month.
No pattern, sometimes an afternoon during the work week, and then a time in the morning on a Sunday or like now on a Saturday early evening.

Sounds like congestion :( I wish you good luck, it can sometimes be quite a pain to get fixed :/

My home uncapped has no twitch buffering at the moment? What line speed do you have again?

Z

Home uncapped? This is the business uncapped thread...
5Mbit/s line on a 4Mbit/s acount.

People a couple of pages ago were having issues. Was at a friend with MWEB 4Mbit uncapped on a 6Mbit line today and he had no issues streaming.

Using the most up to date Chrome browser with Microsoft AV (Windows 8).

Again, all other streams are fine. It's just twitch being silly.

I have a 6Mbps business account on a 7Mbps line. Speed tests at 5.9. As I said above, no Twitch issues for me.

Because of Twitch streaming? And I don't even have Twitch issues with my AH account. Afrihost has won the ISP of the Year award for three years running for a reason.

This does not compute with me.

For an ISP to basically shape their home uncapped clients 20 out of 24 hours a day to 6% of their line speed (referring to east and south) at the moment because of their lack of capacity, which isn't the first time this has happened with them, a year ago we were in the same situation, so, yes, it boggles my mind how they won that award :wtf: consecutively :wtf:

EDIT: must be their awesome clientzone and it's DIY features. No one comes close in that department!

I demand more than just flashy tools, I require solid bandwidth, luckily, I know where to find it.

Except that they don't shape everyone to 6%. It's dependant on demand for particular areas, so heavy users in light areas are subjected to minimal shaping whilst light users in heavy areas get nailed. It's not a nice system, despite being practical, but then again AH home uncapped has never been anything to write home about. AH business is where it's at.

This is a good deal, I can't deny that, but with home uncapped, I can safely say that in the south and maybe the east and definitely in the north (before their upgrade) they were implementing blanket shaping across all clients, even new customers with 1GB usage were getting shaped to 6%, now that in my book is criminal, and not worth any of my time, and also won't be dooped into spending yet more money in upgrading to business because there are plenty of other home uncapped options out there that are light years ahead of MTN's attempt.

EDIT: I "might" revisit home uncapped after their IPC upgrades.

That's your choice. But once you go unshaped you can't go back - try it and their claws will sink in deep. AH business is heaven to me.

Rant on/

I feel AH is becoming the new WA.

WA really set themselves from the rest when they first started out. Then they grew, which caused a lot of problems with PR image (passed off the impression that they didn't give a damn) and timely customer support.

AH blew the market away with their R29 capped data. They claimed they were able to do this because they used their advertising budget to subsidise us consumers.

Since then, they have taken over Axxess, although they still keep the management seperate, this still raises the question:

How can Axxess be cheaper than AH when we have cricket stadiums named after the former?
