I just hope that it will be enough... a lot of new clients on board since then. Hope it doesn't go t*ts up in another month? That would be extremely painful, and honestly, quite disastrous us and AH :(

From my understanding we have increased the order from the initial amount we requested, I'm sure it'll cover more than enough :)

Don't you think your clients should judge the experience and not what execs think?

I think the experience is horrible and so does almost all of the people posting here.

So please stop making decisions for your clients and listen to them

I don't think the intention of my post was ever to make a decision for you, or tell you everything is fine.
It was based on a lot of testing that we've done in our IPC regions. We've also mentioned on here that things aren't the best at the moment - but improvements are on their way.

Think there really must be something up with my line :(

Just gave the Axxess free 3GB trial a try, pings are the same as on my uncapped AH account at the moment.

Getting a 1.7mb down speed instead of the 4mb i should be getting, ping of 986ms as well.

This looks like a classic case of exchange congestion I'm afraid :(
Is your line with us?

Yes. I've had this issue since last year in May, how long am I supposed to wait until my exchange is upgraded? Almost a year now that I have been paying for an 8th of what I'm supposed to be getting. Such poor internet service, its literally unusable.

I know it's frustrating. If we have a fault open for you it's up to Telkom to upgrade the infrastructure in your area :(

So basically I'm paying for sub par service and there's nothing that can be done about it.. I find that unacceptable. Telkom seems to be in no rush to do any kind of upgrade any time soon and my patience is really wearing thin. So basically my only option is to move house to have a connection to some sort of decent exchange?

Has a fault been logged for this?
If so, we can only push Telkom so far to have them resolve this I'm afraid. I know it's far from ideal - but as we do not own the hardware in the area we can only request action on this.

Maybe you need to look into a Mobile solution?

These speed issues are really becoming an issue. I have been looking at increasing my speed, from my current 4mb line to 8mb (max my line speed can take), but I am worried that with the current issues, even my current line is not always running at full speed. Paying an extra R400 per month, and still getting poor speeds is not an option. All business users should be offered a 25-50% discount for the capacity issues.

I don't know if it's been logged as a fault, no one (who has been remotely helpful) has contacted me yet or logged the fault with Telkom. I'm really getting tired of this, after a year of fighting with this issue I haven't had any resolution or even an apology from Telkom or any indication at all that they even care about upgrading their extremely poor infrastructure. I feel as if I might as well be using dial-up its that bad.

You basically waiting for Telkom to pull finger which might never happen.

If you lucky enough to be in coverage area maybe a wireless provider is the next best option, or move house :)

Please PM me your line number, I'd like to follow up on your account and any faults.

Isn't wireless more expensive? :/ doesn't sound optimal.

I'm blessed with a congestion free exchange so don't have any personal experience with wireless but apart from installation costs, it's about the same or similar, at least you will have good latency and free from telkom until they do something.

There are others but I can't think of any right now.

I think DSL is still the most stable and affordable option. Telkom are rolling a lot of new infrstraucture - we were informed of a host of new MSAN's going live on the 30th - so I think it's still a good bet.

Yes it is, but when you don't have any other option (satellite is not an option with high pings) then wireless is good as it also has low pings like ADSL, but more restricted with shaping etc.

I'm still waiting for 10mb since they announced it way back in 2009 I think, so, ja, thats all we do when it comes to telkom, wait.

Yes but how will I know if this effects my area? My guess is I won't know, and if it doesn't help in my area what other options do I have? Will telkom compensate me for the last 12 months of extremely poor service? Is there any way to be moved to another exchange? I need more options :( on the brink of just giving up and cancelling the line altogether.

I think your best bet is to PM TelkomZA with those questions, they're pretty good, and is through them that I know there are no plans to upgrade my mini-dslam higher than 4mb.
