Why are you here then, if you cannot say anything?!? unproductive aint it, might be put to better use in the call centre where the phones never get answered.

Stop signing up new clients!!! until you get capacity.

And yes somehow I still have sympathy for you, because you have to deal with these queries :)

Rep abuse will be reported. You are welcome to complain, but afrigirl, afriguy and afriman are here for a reason and not at your whims.

I think a lot of what you're bringing up has been addressed before hand.
Shaping other clients, P2P or not signing up new clients will not have an affect on this.

I know you're frustrated, I'm afraid we'll have to wait things out until the new capacity arrives.

Dude can you please read what you just wrote? How can shaping / not signing up new clients not have solved this? you have too little bandwidth for too many people. come on I have been running a IT company for way to long to believe this crap.

If you have 1Gbps IPC and you put 20k clients on it and all max out their line what will happen?

I apologise to @afriman for abusing him :( but he knows it is frustrating.

Because it's not as simple as that.
Technically, we can't hit a "pause downloads" button - other protocols, services, accounting packets etc etc will use the same amount of bandwidth.
Our guys have done the calculations, and this includes the double data queries we've seen - nothing we do now will have a drastic improvement.

There's also another aspect to think of. AfriMan covered it earlier, we cannot sell a product with x benefits and them simply remove/ change them when we see fit.

I think most of us that regularly post in the AH capped/Home and Business threads come over to strong at times and have a good go at the AH dudes, but like Jean said, it is very frustrating and you are the face and voice for AH and unfortunately in times like these you guys are in the firing line.

It would be much worse if you guys weren't here.
Afriman sorted a billing issue for me quick quick, despite the fact that I have been very critical at times over the last 5 weeks or so.

But you removed my benefits... I cannot use my 10Mb/s business uncapped as I did 2 months ago.

Again, I think we've covered this already.
I fully understand and appreciate the fact you're more than frustrated about the situation - I'm afraid we can only sit it out and wait for the additional capacity.

Correct - NOW is too late. But you could have done ALLOT last month, the month before that, and even last YEAR when you realised Telkom wasn't going to deliver!

Which is what you are doing right now - exactly. My 10Mbps business uncapped account is FAR from what it is supposed to be. High contention (due to a IPC shortage) is very much an acceptable method of shaping, and it is FAR out from what it is supposed to be normally. But hey, pay, we must pay....

It doesn't matter how I look at this... The fact of the matter is that 1) You should have seen this coming months ago already, and 2) you had months of time for contingency plans. Even today - there is no contingency at all, we simply have to 'wait it out'...

If I do this with my business, I can pretty much close my doors.

I get it, I really do savage :(
I'm really not sure on the conversations on the capacity - but even if Telkom turned around on day 1 to say it would be late we couldn't have made alternative plans. No one else can deliver our IPC.

Quick question...

If I cancel before the 25th, will this account (and AH billing for it) cease on the 30th or will it still be a month's notice thing?

So are you going to refund me for the time I have lost when I could not work or when something took me 3 - 4 times as long as it normally would?

None of you (@Afri) have given a resolution to anyones problems except for wait it out :) and your website still says everything is running amazing because this is not seen as a issue. I do not think it is fair that you drag your clients along for the ride and that you have not done the proper calculations.

When you where with IS you had issues, the move to MTN had issues, then there was the authentication issues, north IPC issues and now south IPC issues. Not once throughout this whole process did I get a refund, or was debited less.

What will be next?

How long has Afrihost been an ISP? You should know telkom does nothing on time (or so you say) so you could have accounted for it.

If you cancel before the 25th the cancellation will take place on the same month.

There is definitely no shaping - I'm not sure how you want to prove this. You are essentially saying the we purposefully limit throughput on certain protocols on Business while publicly saying that we don't - this is not the case.

Slow speeds don't necessarily equal shaping, so I think it's a big leap to make here :(

So then how do you explain the slow speeds during the hours I have mentioned? Remembering, of course, that I CAN prove it with speeds tests using multiple ISP accounts that I have? This ONLY happens on my AH Business account. Am i going to have to again log a ticket and refer it to Telkom for a port change, so that we can rule it out completely? Is it possible that there is something wrong at my exchange with how AH traffic is routed? Why then am I not seeing the exact same results on any other ISP?

Please let me know what tests I should do again for inspection... I am willing to try anything at this point. If the network is taxed in the day, then it is not unreasonable to assume that your network management system would try to level out and prioritise certain traffic? The only way I can see this happening is by using a form of limitation, or shaping... how would you explain the VAST differences in speed and stability between AH Business and all other ISP accounts being used on the same line/location?

How long can a congested exchange take to be fixed?
Maybe a few weeks, maybe a few months. Same situation here. Ordering the capacity last year was accounting for exchange upgrades and promotions.

We haven't been delivered the capacity, and both MTN and ourselves are pushing for updates. We cannot bring the date closer or turn on capacity that isn't there.

True, and do see it from AH's side... but you have to understand that from a user/client perspective, we would expect you to hold off on new products/sign-ups/free bandwidth giveaways.... it is only making things worse. The evidence is clear... initially you only had a problem with having to shape all Home Uncapped accounts, and now you have degradation of a premium service like Business Uncapped. Surely, you can't still believe that more people eating from the same pie does not equate to less pie for each of us?

But you can remove the benefits from my Business uncapped account? Why do you keep blaming Telkom or pointing fingers at Telkom, it is afrihost's fault for not planing correctly.

You say that giving people double data was accounted for? you say that signing up another x amount of clients was accounted for? but wait this is Telkom's fault.

I hate Telkom as much as the next person, but damn this is becoming ridiculous.

We only went ahead with the recent promotions as it wouldn't have any substantial affect on our network.
