Thanks for the response. I'm going to give Afrihost's Business Uncapped a try. If it sucks I'll have to go to Openweb, but I'm really hoping Afrihost works out.

If the other ISP's had more appropriate slogans:
Mweb - "The bare minimum"
Web Africa - "We throttle at 50%"
Axxess - "Throttling not even necessary"
Telkom - "You get what you pay for"
Openweb - "The fault is on your side"

If I wasn't sure about about my decision earlier, I certainly am now. I can get 6Mbps Business Uncapped for less than the 4Mbps Openweb Gold Unshaped.

Is downloading running at half speed the norm at 7PM? Especially on http?

Make that downloading at 100KB/s and and can't stream without buffering.

How often do you speed test? Is the account truly unshaped during office hours? How shaped after hours, particularly between 12am and 6am for downloading?

Speed test about 6 times a day. During the day 100% unshaped so far. After hours been getting about 3/4 my line speed.

However only download via http and been using this since Sunday.

Thanks. I should have an active account from Monday, so I'll test it out myself with usenet and torrents. Can't wait. Daytime download speeds in excess of 600KB/s will be awesome.
