Got a call from critical care team saying that they think its fault with telkom line. they have logged issue with telkom and will wait for them to provide feedback.

Pleased with the speeds I am getting (4mbps business on 8/1 line). I was hoping for more like 5mbps download since there is a huge overhead between 4mbps and 8mbps, but I suppose it's limited to 4mbps or lower.
I'm not feeling to strongly about the whole unshaped thing though, to be honest. I love the fact that I don't get throttled and all services have 100% bandwidth capability, but I find it incredibly annoying when watching a stream and someone else starts watching a YouTube video; the video takes over completely and makes the stream buffer.
Does anyone know how I can counter this? I have a D-Link DSL2750U router (piece of junk) and the QoS settings are complete gibberish.

Also, pings are about 30-40ms worse than Telkom's for international... Is there any way to fix this? Is there a Durban IPC?

These speeds are a bit slow for an 8Mbps account, what package and line speed do you have?
QoS can sometimes yield the best results when just left alone, others take a bit of tweaking to perfect.

In terms of additional latency, is can depend on the route the traffic takes and where it breaks out. Have you run any comparison traceroutes?
We have IPC links in CPT, JHB and DBN :)

AH seems very strict on their account speeds. Even when I was using my 10Mb Business account on 20Mb sync it would speedtest at 9.2Mb. A few months ago it would run slightly faster at 12Mb but it seems those screws were tightened a bit.

Was sad to put my cancellation in last night for my 20Mb business as it was pretty perfect in everything except streaming, but the streaming has just been getting progressively worse.

I can't provide a comparison tracert with a Telkom account because I do not have one any more. I shall ask a mate who lives near to do a tracert for me later.

Streaming is honestly just terrible. Nobody here and nothing is downloading, but I can't stream a 360p Twitch stream :/

Is all your streaming poor or just Twitch? We've seen some very mixed experiences when using Twitch.

The question is more why can't the reason for Twitch and other streams streaming badly, not be identified and fixed ASAP? Probably 30% of the posts in this thread in the last 6 months have been about the ****ty streaming, but it still continues. What's weird is, some days it is 100% fine, and then on other days, you can't do jack **** with it.

Please sort it out, or let us know you dunno what's going on so we can move.

Cant agree more, this service is good for torrents and general browsing, stream is extremely poor from anything other than Youtube. They must have set certain limits or something on certain sites or services, but cannot admit it.

I think the queries around Twitch have been covered a lot - some streams work, others don't. These same streams can be poor for one client and good for another - we can't pinpoint a specific issue.

Also doing some research on this a while back, other ISPs overseas see their users query this too. So not sure if it's the way Twitch's providers are peered, but we can't replicate the issues.

Find the exchange, and look for a new place that's closer. Or pitch a tent next to it :p
