afriguy:
just upgraded to 8mbps over the clientzone

says on the agree thing from 1st of sep.
anyways i can get it faster? like b4 the weekend :P

Was this for your data? If your moving from Uncapped to Uncapped, it should usually be within 24 hours. Drop me a PM and I'll check.

Afriman, so if all the torrents are good. (queing up a few of them). One should be able to get 600 to 650kb per second speed most of the time. ? <-- on a 6mbit uncapped Business from AH ?

As long as the torrent is healthy, is should run as close to line speed as possible.

Hi, probably a HUGE noob question, but when viewing my clientzone detailed usage "Data Usage Graphs", how do I check last month's usage?

Edit: and I don't wan't to use the email stats thing.

Thanks

seems like my 8mbps data is active

I'd just like to randomly pop in and say I'm loving my 10mb Business account.

Everything is 100% (HD Netflix & Hulu, full speed P2P, even Twitch on stable on 'high')

We've run multiple tests on our side on Uncapped, Capped and Business and I still haven't seen anything to show that YouTube is shaped or not performing as well as it should. I think we need to work with you individually to try to replicate what you are experiencing so we can try to figure this out. Looking at the network generally is not going to give us specific enough data to locate where the issue is.
Maybe you can help with mine too.
Out Netflix streaming has gone for a ball of chalk. It does pretty well at lowering quality to keep the stream going but we are suddenly getting frequent buffering.
Mate sent me a YouTube link just now and I could not watch it. Buffer ever 5 seconds.

I switched to a WA account i am trying out (home uncapped) and the video streamed start to end with zero problems.

Downloads are fine - as everyone here says.
Got a 6mpbs connection.

Hi Afriman/boy/girl. I can concur with cortexenslaver. I'm on the 6mbit Business Uncapped and international speeds are quite slow.

I thought everything was feeling a bit slower than usual. Turns out everything is ,running slower than +- 4mbit (p2p and even local speed tests )

Will PM you my account name.

Downloads are terrible for me and have been for a while now. Max 90kbs peak and 150 off peak on a 4mb business uncapped account.

I cant do 2 or more things at a time on the account either (watch youtube and download or play LoL) otherwise I get severe lag spikes or hectic buffering.

Been speaking to Afrihost for awhile now and they just recreate the port etc and that's that, no proper long term solution or more in depth analysis of the hectic issues Ive been experiencing for the last month or two.

Ive sent an email to support more than 12hours ago and still waiting on a reply, hopefully I get one soon so I can enjoy my weekend lanning.

Just a theory... Are all the rest of you on a bundled acc with Afrihost? (Data and line) I use to sync at 8mb (With old ISP) but could never get that much because im too far from the exchange but now (With Afrihost bundled acc) it says im syncing at 3mb on my 4mb package. So Im not sure if the transfer of my line messed everything up.

Anyways, I hope I get some clarification soon.

Ok, just received some very positive feedback from AH now. Looks like they're taking a proper look at my issues now. Lets hope we get these speeds sorted.

My line is with AH, has been for about a year, excellent service for about 11 and a half months...
Last month hasn't been too good though, speed fluctuations, lag, latency issues, international downloading, websites take long too load, youtube buffers on a few occasions, so for me, something has changed with my account in the last month, yet I have been told that there has been no change, I don't know.....

Same issues here.... if you see my previous post and look at the trace routes, you will notice some serious lag and latency spikes. This has been happening in the day too.... there are times I can't open any web pages in either browser - switch to Web Africa account, and all is perfect again :(

Gonna try log a call with Telkom to make sure it's not them :P
But I know it's all on the MTN side... same issues with Axxess test account.... MWEB, VOX, WA and even Telkom accounts all perform flawlessly from same line and location - GO FIGURE :(

Cortex , i'm also in CPT having the same problem it seems. I'm on the 6mbit Uncapped account, yet get speeds of around 4mbit to 4.5mbit.

It's not the line, as I've tested with other ISP accounts (via Manual PPPOE). Then I get speeds of over 7mbit. (My line's SNR is also good)

I have been testing since March... there are always issues that AH wants to palm off, or claim that they aren't seeing any issues on the network.... but hte proof is in the same tests they keep asking all of us to do. You can clearly see that there is an issue with capacity, and a major problem with all the links from the ESR (exchange) onto the MTN network. Hundreds of people all over the country, on different exchanges can't all be told "it's your line, blame Telkom" - this is especially true considering we have all done comparative tests with other ISP's, including Telkom, which shows that the issue lies with AH.

Thanks MTN, once again you have proved how poorly managed your network is. Strange how a network with some of the best latency of all the ISP's (at least in tests from my location) can have so many intermittent issues regarding bandwidth, authentication, latency spikes, different routing for different accounts, etc.

..... DOES NOT COMPUTE! :(

Vote with your wallets. They have no incentive to fix the network if people keep paying them every month.
