Dropped you a pm Afriman, hope you can sort it out.

Got it going at full speed again after another reset. Still is a pain to have to reset it so often though.

Sent you PM earlier this morning AfriMan....

Do you want me to send again?

EDIT: getting the feeling that I am being ignored... I have sent PM's over the last 2 weeks, and made comments here, but they haven't been acknowledged at all. Funny how once someone else replies to my comment it is addressed - but the reply... not my original comment

hmmmmmm....

Dodgy International Speeds

Hi everyone. I am having some trouble with my internet connection, specifically with international websites on my Afrihost 4MB Business Uncapped account.

Here is the comparison between my Afrihost account, and a free 2GB Web Africa account.

International has been very erratic lately, even at "off-peak" times (00:00 till 06:00) - not that it should matter at all, as Business is supposed to be guaranteed unshaped all the time... it does seem that some of the profiles have been contaminated/corrupted some how :(

Even the routing to the same sites seems to change all the time.

I don't see any glaring differences in the traces, but to me it could depend a lot on the internal routing within the US which could affect the end result. For a 4Mbps line, I would say 2.5Mbps is not terrible, but if it can be improved, we'll do our best to do so. We are continually monitoring performance to improve where we can.

If the internal routing in the US affects the end result, wouldn't the result be the same for the WebAfrica account as well? And I agree, 2.5Mbps is not terrible, but it isn't what I am paying for, and as such I would like to sort it out.

It depends on how peering and routing is setup, in general.
Do you constantly see the 2.5Mbps mark on US speeds?

No, this has only become a problem from the beginning of this month. Last month I had a perfectly working line (apart from the occasional lag spike or two).

Lets get this looked into :)
Drop me a PM with your DSL username, I'll attach it to the comparison results you posted earlier and our team will run some diagnostics with you.

If i created extra account by mistake can i cancel it and get refunded if it has not been used?
And can i request to have my login username changed to something like [email protected] and [email protected]

Of course, we can credit the amount for you :)
I can change the DSL username if there hasn't been any data used on the account, PM me your deets and we can have a look.

Could be an issue.

Uh huh ..... :wtf:

It's useless just saying everything is working your side, what exactly is working? Do you just email? Do you stream? Are you on 2Mb.

Just saying everything works has absolutely no bearing on anything really.

Ok .... PM me and I will gladly give you any data that may make your day,

But I am sure the rep will get the message leading from previous posts and PMs,

Oh and for the record - I am a happy AH customer for the time being,

Everything has gone for a ball of s***t AGAIN.
No throughput... have reset a number of times - am starting to lose my patience with the stock answer, "we are not seeing anything our side"

Clearly, there is a problem on AH... I am getting selective time-outs on certain sites, speed is slow, account is sometimes unresponsive from one minute to the next.

WTF?
