Hhmm, very odd indeed!
Lemme see if I can trend something on our network graphs.

What's your experience like now?

Hi,

I'm having the exact same issues. I keep getting disconnected from my games (and the internet) at random times.

My router logs show that this has been going on since last week Thursday. And it happens at least once every hour.

I have tried a different router, but the problem persists. Next step is trying a different ISP!

Sorry to hear this :(
Is there any noise on your voice line?

Afriguy
I noticed in ClientZone that the 'test my line' tool is not reflecting the correct speed.
I have a 20meg line and 'test my line' shows I am syncing at 10meg but when I log into my router I am syncing at 20meg....

So breakdown so far.

Problem reported on thursday, issue with account confirmed, account to be escalated to dev team.
Friday - No one knows why it was not escalated to dev team or why account was suspended, will be escalated to dev team.
Saturday - No escalation to dev team took place, ticket closed.
Sunday - Cannot answer as to why nothing has happened before.
Monday - issues with account and with "critical care" capped account confirmed - will be escalated to MTN.

I.e. Connection is being shaped, throttled, restricted (insert current FOTM ISP term).
Everyone at afrihost denies this is possible - but will escalate. I must just wait, while receiving between 40 and 90% shaping on my account.

Critical care went home without returning my call. Current manager admits there is a problem, cannot answer why none of his staff did what they should, and I must wait - they "WILL" get back to me

Every single evening I get only 1/3 of my line Speed 230 Kb/s this happen from 18:00 in the evening

Seem to have the same issue here, extremely fustrating, service has really gone down the ****ter

Dont know if this shows anything *(really getting annoyed as all I ever seem to do is test my line):

Afrihost refuses to do anything other than promise to get back to me tomorrow.

6 days after the problem started.

I am truly shocked. I see on Hellopeter that afrihost suspends accounts of users if they use strong language / negative terms to complain about the ethics of Afrihost.

I have never found a provider who is quite as dishonest / incompetent as this.

How can many different staff members claim my account was escalated - each time I enquire - the next person claims it did not happen.

People (critical care) go home without returning calls.

Account does not work, and every evening (after non returned calls), someone tells me they will have to get back to me in the morning.

Wash, rinse repeat.....

We value our clients but our team is also very important to us. Ultimately, allowing clients to abuse our team and treat them in a way that they themselves would not like to be treated is not sustainable. We work on mutual respect and we absolutely reserve the right as per our Terms and AUP to address any abuse towards our team very strongly.

Ultimately, as I've said many times on the forums. it's about respecting each other and working together. If we're not doing that, then we're really not going to get very far. Studies (even one cited by mybroadband recently) prove that when we treat each other well, respect each other, and recognise the humanity in others clients have a better service experience and receive better service. That's always been my personal experience as well.

I can't really see packet loss in this trace. Can you run an MTR test rather?

I have a 20meg line and 'test my line' shows I am syncing at 10meg but when I log into my router I am syncing at 20meg....

There is a limitation in the Telkom API that does not recognise lines above 10Mbps. we've logged this with them for a while, but still not fixed :(

Every single evening I get only 1/3 of my line Speed 230 Kb/s this happen from 18:00 in the evening

If you're in the South, then it could due to the issue we've listed on our WebSite Network Status.

We are busy addressing this, and we're hoping to see the changes we've made taking effect within the next few days.

^^ No issues on your Network Status... I assumed this Southern slowdown was resolved.

Ok, how do I run a MTR test?

Odd thing was after running this test, I started m y torrents again, and they were flying. I stop the torrent's and general browsing, and anything on YouTube is a stuttering mess.

The listed issue is still there, although the overall impact is not that big at all at the moment.

South ADSL Network Demand 17:14, 03 Sep 2014
There has been a increase in bandwidth demand in the Southern region (Cape Town and surrounding areas), particularly between 19h00 and 23h00. ADSL clients in this region may experience reduced download speeds during this period.

Our team is working to manage the increased demand to deliver the best possible internet experience in the affected region.

We sincerely apologise to all clients who have been affected and assure them that we will continue to work towards improving their experience.
