Will we need a special router to use the static IP address? I have just purchased a netgear N750 premium router, and it has a place to specify a fixed ip address, is this all I need to do once the IP addresses are assigned?

As long as your router is compatible with L2TP you'll be fine

Yes, you'll need to have a router that support L2TP Tunneling. We recommend the Billion BiPAC 7402GX

Just bought this Netgear router on Friday, cost a fortune, and it seems like I have to return it. I contacted Netgear support and it does support fixed IP addresses and VPN, don't know if that helps

Correct, it's a few bucks to "bolt-on" a static IP.
