Afrihost seems to be down in Goodwood. I get stuck at the password login phase.

Could you try going into clientzone and resetting your account password :) Is it possible that it has been entered incorrectly?

Also - does your 1gb capped account work?

Ah - so at least I'm not the only one that doesn't even receive ticket numbers to e-mail based tickets then (and the client zone most convieniantly doesn't show the ref numbers either)... I am shocked beyond believe as to how things degraded - if I had to rely on support frequently for issues, I don't know what I would have done, but it wouldn't have been nice.

Would definately like to +1 this post, as well as Taranis' :) Very well put, and the feeling's definately mutual. Perhaps we should start paying 'soon' as well.
 
I think it is ridicules not to have no support on weekends and in the evening today only at lunchtime sum buddy answers this is not the normal support my speed went down sins Saturday I get 400 Kb/s normally I get 620 Kb/s
 
Does anyone else have problems streaming from twitch? HD streaming from youtube works flawlessly but can't stream from twitch at even the lowest quality without constant buffering every 5 seconds. (on 4m account)

Yes it's a known problem. Twitch is being shaped on many Business Uncapped accounts, no other explanations. Started about 1.5 weeks ago. Cancelled my account after having it for a day, expecting superior Twitch performance, and took my money elsewhere.

^^ Yup, Twitch still buffers on medium on my 2Mbs BUU account. Worked fine up until, as PostmanPot says, 1.5 weeks ago.
 
Is there a problem in the WC / Cape Town this morning? Not getting the usual great performance on this account.
 
I just had to downgrade from 10MB Uncapped to 4MB Business because of the 24/7 shaping!
Now the 4MB "Business Uncapped" account is maxing out at 325kB/s, which isn't even 3MB speed, and is erratic and unstable.
This is now definitely worse than when I was with MWEB!

My other 10MB Business Uncapped can't seem to maintain connections to servers without multi-threaded downloading. WTF IS GOING ON????

I agree entirely on the comment, "..... WE ARE PAYING NOW!"
STOP SIGNING UP NEW CLIENTS AND TEND TO THE ONES YOU HAVE.... YOU ARE LEGALLY OBLIGATED TO DELIVER THE SERVICE YOU PROMISED!

Very disappointing.... I now feel like I did with 8TA 3G in my area, where I had to keep resetting the router 15 times a day to get any sort of throughput. How is it possible to go from "total bliss" for 3 months, to total S**** in the last 2 weeks?????

Another thing.... Afrihost's claim that the 1GB account is the same as the Business uncapped, is simply not true.
How is it that the 1GB seems to outperform the Business Uncapped?????? I would think that as a business client / user I should have priority over ALL other offerings. These 2 types of accounts might be the same by description, or nature, but they seem to be authenticated and routed very differently on the network. It appears that Business Uncapped has to make a few more hops/stops/routes and onto different servers on the MTN network. This is quite evident when doing trace routes on the accounts, and even more evident when the trace is done for afrihost.co.za, versus afrihost.com - how the hell can these be different???? Both domains resolve to the same IP address.

It's too bad you guys are struggling. My account is working hundreds.

It has been stated many times on here... even by the Afrihost reps.

BTW, if I am to understand correctly by your comment, this would imply that there is a better contention on the 1GB account?
....AGAIN... I make the point that a BUSINESS user should be getting priority... or am I just living in an idealised daydream? 'Coz it sure feels like it :p
 
Afrihost today announced big value savings for capped accounts, and more network capacity for regular uncapped accounts. What do they have in store for Business uncapped? Nothing was mentioned. Feels like an episode of Robin Hood so far.
 
I have always had major problems with twitch , regardless of what ISP I'm using. Literally drives me mad. Best thing you can do for twitch (although it doesn't always work) is avoid the local mirrors by temporarily setting your DNS server to 8.8.8.8 and flushing your dns cache, then reloading your browser

This has been the case for me too. My parents' house is next to the exchange and it's nowhere near congested (The house is "kinda" on the outskirts of PE), we get really good line stats there and twitch worked really well with 720p+ on 4meg uncapped.

My line in cape town has mediocre to sub par line stats and I stay in a residential business mixed district which means during the day the exchange gets contested and Twitch during the day is a no go. Twitch during the evening is hit and miss.

Many people attribute the shoddy twitch service to their lack of local cdn presence of some form.

There is a local cdn presence. I know Mweb hosts one, and I know that I avoid it like the plague because rather than improving the service, it effectively makes it unusable instead
 
does it also have bad performance in after hours?

i am going to AH_B next month, and by the looks of it its not going good at all
but then again,we only see the complains,and not the good part,so ya :/
