Yes, but if you keep giving out ice-creams you will eventually run out.

Not really, in terms of having bandwidth to supply - as in actual GB's per month, that amount is literally infinite. We're only concerned with real time demand, because it's about how much can be supplied at a single point in time which is the IPC capacity in essence.

Looking good there. Wait a minute - 1Mbps?! Dude, when you going at least 2Mbps???? ;)

When the price drop comes into effect.

Im on business BTW.

For all the people who thinks AH is crap, there must be somthing wrong with your line, I was Downloading the BF4 update at 114KB/s constantly.

There is definitely conflicting information in your statement which I don't understand, to be honest.

You're saying that the infrastructure is not at fault and that the line and exchange is not in question - but the performance on all ISPs is degraded, not just Afrihost. So what exactly are you saying is the problem?

I haven't said that it's an IPC related problem in your specific case, because from the information I received from you, this was a problem on the exchange port and you were asking to be moved.

Sorry if I am not getting this, but I'm finding this pretty confusing :(

Uhm, he said;
Furthermore, you would also notice the drops in ALL ISP tests I have done, not just the AH accounts.

I understand him to be saying, the others did not, and would have dropped if there is a fault with the infrastructure, thus there is no fault as only the AH account is affected.

From my recollection - the results I was sent did show similar results on all ISPs - I could be wrong there :(

LOL. Awesome - we'll need to see about them price drops :)

Sorry about that. We should see immediate improvement as soon as Telkom light up the new IPC capacity - we're all ready to go on our side :(

Not too worried I just want to get back to having meetings with my clients over Skype at a reasonable time, and not at 10pm at night

Yeah, that sucks man. I'm pretty sure we'll be live really soon. Wish I could give you a firm date, but I'll post as much info as I can :(

They will most likely, but chances are that they are not going to alter their downloading patterns significantly enough to change overall impact on the network. If I gave you two ice creams instead of one, you can't eat them any faster - and the premise here is that in real time this did not impact real time demand - not overall data consumption.

That is really quite illogical. If 90 people ate 90 ice creams over a month, that averages 3 ice creams per day. If 90 people ate 180 ice creams over a month, that averages 6 ice creams per day. The rate of consumption has doubled. Maybe none of the 90 people can eat 2 ice creams at once, but at any point in time there is likely to be double the amount of ice cream consumption going on. And it is certain to have an impact on the overall ice cream eating capacity.

Perhaps the focus should not be on the number of ice creams eaten per person per day, but more on the waiting time in the queue to get the free ice creams... thus, if the ice cream vendor can only hand out so many ice creams to so many people per hour, suddenly the waiting time would thus increase and the queue would get longer as it now would take him longer to hand out 2/3/4 or more ice creams per person than the one he was previously doing, especially towards closing time when the people all rush to get theirs before they are too late.

I think you guys are getting hung up on the ice cream analogy here so let's bring it back ;)

What I am saying is that the rate of consumption has not changed significantly since the launch, and we're seeing that from our monitoring. There is an overall trend of increased demand that started from late last year, and we're seeing that continue in line with Telkom upgrades, but otherwise we haven't seen that spike significantly at all since we upped the data caps.

Read again... every post I have made, and every test I have done shows the same thing.... AH accounts degraded, yet Telkom, MWEB, WebAfrica, etc, ALL seem to perform better. Where you are confused is where I have said that AH CAPPED accounts out-perform ALL AH UNCAPPED accounts. The Business Uncapped should be a priority... we pay more that anyone else.

Is that simpler???

This thread AND the Home Uncapped thread is littered with posts and tests that confirm this, I shouldn't have to repeat it.
...and just because you don't have the same problem, or don't think it's a problem, doesn't make insignificant.

As for AH's support issues, I am STILL waiting for a response to my Dad's open billing ticket, which nobody seems to want to resolve. We (both my Dad and I) must be clients with MARKS/NOTES against them that nobody is going to sort out. But hey, who cares, as long as AH keeps taking our money, right?

But you have seen a spike in the number of complaints in this thread. And since the Southern IPC is already running at capacity, any increase in demand cannot register. All that happens if everyone is forced to slow down.

That may be.... but the longer someone is on for, the more congestion you get. The more there are and the longer they are downloading, the faster you run out.

I've asked several different people to assist you with the issues you've brought and I am genuinely confused because I know you specifically asked us to get you moved to another exchange or port on the exchange, so this is news to me.

But I will be happy to ask them to look into this again if you are now reporting different information, and we need to look at this issue again - or from scratch.

This is also the first I am hearing of a billing issue, not sure if you raised that with me, but I can also look into that for you. I think you are commenting about marks/notes made against you based on a previous poster's comments, but that is not the case with any of our clients, we don't make personal assumptions or judgements on our clients, we simply not pertinent facts to better enable us to provide a service to our clients.

I'm hoping you'll PM me some more detail. I get the sense that you're pretty angry from your responses, but I can only help if we work together on this. If you're willing to do that, then let's get started on this :)

Yes, but that is the compounded effect of steadily increasing demand, which is predictable, and the fact that we haven't received the upgrade we ordered last year. I am pretty confident that whether we launched capped revisions or not, we would be in the same boat.
