Any idea why my Business account is still unusable?
Really rubbish, just like pre IPC upgrade again.

Tried this morning, this afternoon and now, and it is still "throttled" in its response.

As said before, backup accounts are all hundreds.
Mine was also rubbish when you posted earlier. I received 560kbps at that stage.
Mine is back to 1900kbps> (2Mbps data package on 4Mbps)
Latency is slightly higher than I'm use to on Intl @199ms, but it is still not too bad.

That's pretty odd - most reports are that Business accounts in the South are performing well again. There seem to be some accounts that suffered during the authentication problem - probably misclassified and then effectively not performing as unshaped products. Most of the time a router reboot resolved this.

I should be able to pick up if this is happening if I can check out your profile - please PM me :(

Sounds like things are normal again. 199ms is not bad - not great if you're talking UK/EU. We usually get best speeds of btw 160 and 180ms - but 199ms is good enough for decent international gaming and streaming.

It was done with MyBB speedtest, so not sure where it tests.

The account is not flying atm:

Tests do fluctuate a lot though. Some of the test were higher (read normal), but it changes on each new test for international.
Local seems consistent on expected speeds.

Hi AfriMan

The router was rebooted a few times yesterday, including a Telkom port reset, and it did absolutely nothing to improve this accounts dismal performance then.

It seems to be fine this morning. At least TuneIn is not buffering and international is OK.

If it starts to go wonky again, I will let you know.

I am just concerned that this might be a recurring thing, one week fine, then wonky for the next, then OK, etc.

2Mbps, EC

It was done with MyBB speedtest, so not sure where it tests.

The account is not flying atm:

I also get some weird Mybroadband Speedtest results. Especially ping. Ping is around 40-50 for Cape Town, 65-95 JHB and 189-237 for International.

Using the speedtest.net test, ping is CPT 13-18, JHB 30-55 and INT (London or NY) 160-191.

So dunno why this is tho'. SpeedOf.Me seems to reflect my experience closely, but this is not to be trusted as a measurement tool, apparently. So who knows.

You will get differing results if you run continuous speedtests - and the test itself can be flawed in come circumstances. Best to always have a range of tests (like traces, pingtests, etc) to confirm what you could be seeing.

If it's OK for now, that's cool - let's take it as it comes :)

Interesting. According to the ClientZone we used 50GB yesterday on a 4mbps business uncapped account we use at one of our offices.

Thing is, nobody was in the office... at all. It was a holiday. And only that line was logged in.

Explanation?

It could be that someone has managed to get onto your WiFi - but also check your usage pattern. It could be that usage stats arrive late from the previous day. If there is no usage the previous day and then a massive spike the following day, it could be due to late accounting data received.

You can also PM me to check this out for you.

Nothing is better in the South.... especially in Milnerton, Table View, Blouberg - it's a mixed box of chocolates at any given time of day... not to mention all the line drops, and other weird faults resulting from Telkom's new/faulty/over-sensitive cards at the exchanges :(

Reporting all good my side

Spoke to Telkom techie in my area they maintaining/upgrading infrastructure here, already getting sub 9-15ms ping to exchange throughout the entire day and my line has gone from "Upper Bronze" to "Platinum" and very happy, I hope it's going to stay this way.

Just having trouble with my MiFi which I will try and sort Monday.

I complain a lot when things aren't going well... so its only fair to say, my 8Mb Business Account has been A+ since the upgrade.

I did not really have any issues with regards to speed, but have noticed lately that simple web browsing is extremely zippy.

Watching the MotoGP via SuperSport and the uncapped account is not great.
Buffers for 15 -30 seconds every minute or so.
AH capped account buffers for less than a second every 2 -3 minutes.
IS capped account almost the same AH capped account, but buffers a bit longer for me.

Both capped accounts at 4Mbps speeds and Business uncapped at 2Mbps.

Quick question..

Are the contention ratios the same for the business uncapped and the capped accounts? I would like to sign up but i'm not sure what's better as I would probably spend the same amount on capped data as I would for a business uncapped account..
