Hi

My 2 meg account has been atrocious today, especially ping. Streaming was almost non-doable. Could only view bits and pieces.

I logged a ticket, but they usually take days to respond there.

This speedtest was done to the local Centurion server. Tried others, they are even worse, as you'd expect.

Centurion area, 012-667.

Quite crappy and as usual the network is performing as expected on their site. Getting so over this ****

I wonder what our clients would say if they had to inform us that there is a problem with the service we provide? This is scary, one would think a big company like Afrihost would have systems monitoring their service? Guess this is not in place and that the "network status monitor" (aka Piece of ****!!) is not automated but actually changed by someone when one of the clients complain..

Indeed. My Traceroute looks almost exactly the same, first hop fine, then the **** hits the fan after that:

So, basically we can rule out exchanges, hardware etc.

Which is confirmed by the support mail I just received:
Hi There

Hope all is well

There is currently a latency issue on our network of which our technicians are still confirming the source and the areas affected. But they are also busy working on the solution. There isn't any turn around time as to when will the issue be sorted.

Please feel free to contact us should you need any further assistance

Regards
Surprise M

Which basically means "expect it to be fixed when it's fixed".

What is really starting to tick me off though, is the Network Status page on Afrihost's site, which hasn't "shown" a fault since 1 May, making believe the **** is on my side initially, so I ran tests and stuff because I thought my router was failing or something. And judging by that mail, they have been aware of this quite substantial issue for at least a while, yet nothing on the status page, making us think everything is hunky dory on their side.

Why have it when you don't use it, guys?

I wonder what our clients would say if they had to inform us that there is a problem with the service we provide? This is scary, one would think a big company like Afrihost would have systems monitoring their service? Guess this is not in place and that the "network status monitor" (aka Piece of ****!!) is not automated but actually changed by someone when one of the clients complain..

LOL. Read my post above, I posted it before I read this. Pretty similar sentiments.

May as well remove the Network Status page.

His pings are looking good though?? Second is to Jozi and third to London. So all looking good there.. But yeah their network monitor is a piece of ****!! Doesn't work

Those pings are good for me! :p

Usually in the 40's for CT, 80s for JHB and 180's international.

Jeez, I gotta read better. My bad. Thought those were all to the same place.
