Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback

I'm not sure which Business package you are moving to, but yes, there would probably be a pro-rata fee payable. You should then receive the regular bundle price billing from the start.

Business Uncapped 2Mbps. If I upgrade my package before the 25th then I have to pay the pro-rata fee in this case, R100, right?

The pro-rata fee will also be adjusted for how many days left in the month, so probably a lot less :)

Just remember it's based on the full product value, not the bundle difference.

So a little while ago I came on here to bitch about my downloads never reaching their proper speed.
A rep from AH's critical team contacted me and said they would monitor my line and see if there was an issue. A week later they said that they could not see any poor performance. I was pleased with their effort but I still want seeing the downloads speeds I expected.

Then last week Friday morning my Telkom line went dead. Cue the customary phone call to Telkom and I got through to Mike (if you ever deal with Mike then you are in the best of hands). He was intelligent, polite and understood that I knew what I was talking about.
Last night I got home and my ADSL was back up and running and is now downloading at full line speed. So I just came here to say thank you to both AH and Telkom for their effort.

And now that I have connected up my server to No-IP's DDNS service I am enjoying the benefits of proper remote administration to ensure all those downloads are running... because remember kids; an idle ADSL line is a wasted ADSL line.

WHy not watch it through Dota itself?

I use both.

Dota doesn't show player interviews, the panel itself, pre and post game analysis pre and post game analysis

You miss a lot of the event just watching in dota.

WA Business Uncapped 2Mbps:

Pro-rata - R1

AH Business Uncapped 2Mbps

Pro-rata - R100

Is there any other advantages that WA has over AH right at this moment?

Streaming in general is utter cr@p atm on Afrihost.... just go check out their threads, both business and home uncapped products.

it's not just Netflix either, it's iPlayer, Hulu, Youtube, twitch.... the whole lot!

That's weird. Youtube's fine on my AH Home Uncapped account :p Well, that and web browsing are the things that are fast

Screenshot of a Youtube vid I am trying to watch in 720p on a 6MB connection. Note: trying......

Notice the times in the bottom right corner and the buffer differences.

And notice how long the video is. This sort of thing happens to ALL Youtube vids I try watch, regardless of length of vid.

Now I go across the road to my neighbour who has a 2MB ADSL line from Telkom, and the vid is immediately watchable with hardly any buffering at all, also on 720p.

I was on business uncapped, 2Mbps, with a 4Mbps line. Saw today that for this month so far I only consumed 48GB. Changed to a capped package, with full line speed. :)

For some reason when rebooting my router, it takes like 1-2 minutes longer to resolve the PPPoE connection on the router than with Telkom. Can I speed it up any way?
