We are reporting increased DSL demand throughout the country, possibly as a result of new Apple iOS updates released late last night. We will be optimising our network and making changes where applicable to provide the best possible internet experience to clients while traffic demand remains high. We apologise to affected clients and would like to assure them that we will continue to monitor and work towards improving their overall experience.
That's BS... the complaints are from all over the country. The only guys not complaining are probably on slower lines. We're doing our best to normalise services across the board, doesn't look like everyone is being affected by this.
Is there a problem with NNTP? Getting 0KB/s - nothing will download at all.

I cannot understand how an update of ANY kind can affect YOUR network this badly? Not to mention the fact that how many devices could be doing this update? Not everyone owns a compatible device for said update. This is total nonsense.
AND another thing..... This is not the first time AH/MTN has had problems with iOS updates.... this is poor network management, over-selling, and not looking after the clients who are paying a premium for so-called "business" access. Not only are my speeds locked at 10% of total throughput, but websites time out, TeamViewer sessions get disconnected, etc. This is costing me time and money - GET IT FIXED! No other ISP that I am aware of has ever used the excuse of poor performance due to iOS updates. As my tests from last night prove, only AH/MTN is affected.

WTF????? Not enough to ask us to be patient anymore.... been going like this for the last 6 months. Tired of doing the work for you... enough with telling us to do tests... enough with using the same BS claim that "not all users are affected", or "only a few seem to be reporting issues" - that's not the point. The fact that clients from all over the country are experiencing the SAME issues, with most being CLAMPED/LIMITED/THROTTLED to 10% of full speed, tells us that it is YOU/AH/MTN that is purposefully restricting our speeds - FIX IT, and FIX IT NOW!
I think AH is going the way of Axxess wrt to Business accounts... they will start shaping all of us too, without warning. Then they will string us along while they "test", just like with the home uncapped 2 months ago.![]()
Looks like NNTP traffic is being blocked. It runs fine when I test with another ISP. I am paying for uncapped, unshaped 10m business account...not what we are getting now.
What bull**** is this.
I cannot fathom that additional / overhead bandwidth has not been allocated especially for this type of situation.
"Julle weet mos die update kom" ?>>
Cringe to think what happens when one of the biggest games in the world pushes an update - slow for DAYS ?

The saddest thing is that even when we do the work for them, they are still incompetent and cannot resolve the issues.
Having to go through several of their support staff members of apparently increasing expertise levels, escalating an issue endlessly and waiting forever for that call back that never comes is something I've never experienced before (even from Telkom) and would never have dreamt of doing at any of the positions I've held, all of which involved technical support.
Sorry for letting you down.
As mentioned, not everyone is being affected by this.
Typical Afrihost response void of any hint of a resolution.
Let me ask you this: if you took your car in to a mechanic for repairs because the engine was dead, would you also accept his excuse if it was "Not everyone is being affected by this"?
Not at all, this is simply a glitch on our end.
