Afrihost Capped ADSL Feedback (MTN) - New beginning

I was with Afrihost last week, got 400 ms latency. 10Mbps line (normally I would get 8.5 mbps download speed) Then I moved to Web Africa. See results below of WebAfrica,

Local
http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/i/1286071124

International

I feel sorry for the guys that are still with Afrihost. No amount of traceroute's will help. Afrihost needs to sort out their own network. Clearly they have a problem. ------> MTN

It is not your line, it is not Telkom, it is not the south (Cape Town), it is an Afrihost/MTN problem.

That amount of latency sounds terrible :( Was it constant from what you could see?

@AfriGuy - I've stopped using Afrihost, but last week when I was still with Afrihost the problem was constant. A few weeks ago I did not have any problems with Afrihost.

It definitely shouldn't have been constant latency :(
I know that the latency does see increases sometimes, and that's definitely something that we're working on. I'm more than willing to troubleshoot further though, you can PM me anytime.

@AfriGuy - Thanks, but no thanks. I've moved onto another ISP where green network status is green and not red.

Best of luck going forward :)
Things will be going green again soon!

I think he was being sarcastic and referring to the fact that up till last week Afrihost was showing Green status when it Should have been Red.

Every network is going to have it's ups and downs.
We've resolved the issues in the North, which is what the red notice was - with the improvements post still on the noticeboard.

I've never seen a network take so long to acknowledge and start to resolve a problem.

There shouldn't be any excuse for that :(
Is there a ref# I can check out?
Is the same problem hige latency pop in the south overloadet

Hi Thorsten

Pranav here from Afrihost Critical Care again.

Please note we are still awaiting feedback from our top management on the network status.
As stated previously I will provide feedback as soon as we have some positive information to share.

Thanking you kindly :)

Have a great day and please let me know if I can help with anything else!

Warm regards

Pranav

Yeah, and it's a pretty bleak outlook IMHO ;)

A bleak outlook for a Fan who only wants to recall the victory's but a valid outlook for a potential fan looking for a new team to invest time and resource into.
