Afrihost Capped ADSL Feedback (MTN) - New beginning

Now my Afrihost account won't even authenticate. So I try login on ClientZone to check what's going on (considering that my account should still be active for the month) , and the ClientZone barely works at the moment. Either won't let me login or it's just broken beyond usability.

Morning!

Are you still having issues logging into your ClientZone? If you are, can you please send me a PM with your ClientZone username so that I can check what is up with the account.

I had no packet loss while running a ping test in the background. The 168ms ping was on the Afrihost account.
I will run pingplotter if it happens again. Seems to only happen in the evenings. (can't be congestion, webafrica had no issues).

Interesting, if it is only in the evenings, then it is definitely something we'll need to look into.

I've had no problems since I switched back to Afrihost a few months back from Telkom. I did find that since I upgraded my router recently, my streaming issues stopped and latency is better - always suspected my router was one of the causes of poor performance.

Had no issues today or yesterday as I've working the whole day on servers and cannot afford any problems.

Thanks for the feedback! It helps a bit to hear that not all of our Clients are having a less than ideal experience.

The issues do seems to be worse in certain areas, and I have a feeling is less to do capacity and more with how the bandwidth we have is being managed.

Although a new modem can often improve your connection experience, it is unfortunately not a solution to every problem. :)

iOS updates maxed at 30KB/s again tonight, can't believe it's taken support so long to fix this. It's actually pathetic!

I'm pretty sure we've figured out what the cause of this is, I should have an update and feedback for you in the next few hours.

So from the 20th April Afrihost is only now identifying the problem?????

This specific one to which I refer is a completely different problem, in this case it looks like specific iOS updates are not receiving the properly bandwidth priority.

But surely on unshaped accounts everything receives maximum priority, so how can certain updates be "not receiving the proper bandwidth priority".

Is unshaped a play on words where protocols are not shaped but certain servers / hosts are bandwidth limited (throttled)?

I was perhaps being a bit ambiguous, those updates SHOULD be getting full speed, but they don't appear to be, but this not happening consistently. All Capped traffic should be prioritized and never shaped.

iOS updates still running slow... Any updates?

Not quite yet... :(

Sorry the issues at Gallo Manor have been keeping us busy.

I'm hoping there will be some improvement over the next day. Are your other download speeds remaining stable at least?

Speed test is indicating HTTP is running at full speed. Haven't tried any others.

High latency is still an issue on my 3rd hop of over 150ms, any idea what that is? I've had Telkom look into my exchange for possible issues which they tested and said the exchange is fine.

Very, very slow on Afrihost. Switching over to WA gets me back to full line speeds.
I downgraded from business uncapped to capped because of this, and I reckon this will be my last month with Afrihost.

It's getting worse. 41% packet loss from 100 pings no wonder the network is so sht.

Speedtest is terrible and pings are worse... What's going on?
Getting 11.15Mbps of the 40Mbps and ping is 135ms.

Also struggling to stream youtube. This type of issues are getting more regular with Afrihost these days.

Same here. I'm getting REKT.

I was enjoying nice chat on TeamSpeak had 9-15ms 0% packet loss, then BAM teamspeak went offline for me. Now getting these speeds. I'm in Cape Town, is anyone else getting the same?

From another ISP.

Come on Afrihost please fix this!

After 11pm got fine.

Please afrihost look into this!

Right now since the 1st of May I have been using my Telkom 50GB backup account.
I have been too scared to use my Afrihost account that I pay around R600 a month because of the issues I have had last month.
I will continue to use my Telkom account, so far with no issues and will try again with Afrihost around mid month.
Telkom (Such a bad word) will let me experience their offering through my daily usage and streaming, when i change back to Afrihost and its not the same I will cancel.

Afrihost seemingly offered true capped performance a year ago, now its a war between Crystalweb.
Personally I don't like the option of Day and Night differences on a capped account like CrystalWeb offers and prefer one solution of Capped date used whenever needed.
but if Afrihost caries on sucking the way it does I have no option.

Please Afrihost, Sort this out, or give an eta on what is going on .
This green light on your status page really is annoying.

Just Like MTN you guys hide the facts. Open Up sort it out, Display the issues on your status page, Be honest and transparent and give me hope.

And Please all you Afri**** that respond on MyBB , domt respond to this post, I want to see action, not your sweet talk !!!! No Pm's, No please send me your username so we can respond. I don't want to be involved. Just do what your company says it is! Period.

That's All I ask !!!!
Otherwise I take it as I am not the right customer for you or MTN your Master.
