Afrihost Capped ADSL Feedback (MTN) - New beginning

Now my Afrihost account won't even authenticate. So I try login on ClientZone to check what's going on (considering that my account should still be active for the month) , and the ClientZone barely works at the moment. Either won't let me login or it's just broken beyond usability.

What was the latency and packet loss sitting at with the Afrihost account?

I had no packet loss while running a ping test in the background. The 168ms ping was on the Afrihost account.
I will run pingplotter if it happens again. Seems to only happen in the evenings. (can't be congestion, webafrica had no issues).

iOS downloads at 17KB/s AGAIN! Support forever looking into it with no results.

Same as usual I connect to a VPN and try the download again and it runs at my full line speed of 10Mbps.

Clear indication that Afrihost is prioritizing traffic on capped users.

International now choking... throughput dropping to almost unusable on Afrihost accounts.

/meh

EDIT:

Aaaand seems to be recovering again...

Download at 50 KB/s on a 6 Mbps line.

Edit: Synced at 5 Mbps.

Has improved but it's up and down between 300-500 KB/s (5 Mbps line).

Afrigenie explain the network status page again please, what's the point of it? Your management have their heads so far up their asses that they haven't noticed the amount of cancelations in the last month while your network continues to run like a bomb? Last issue displayed on there was in February, who you guys trying to kid here?

Afrihost will never updates their Network Status page because they believe the issue is not theirs.
I have never seen it updated unless its their authentication servers that are an issue.
We can complain as much as we want here, its also one of the things that urk me the most too, nothing is ever acknowledged.

I'm hoping things will get worse, so Gian catches a wake up after falling asleep while his company is slowly but surely is loosing it's reputation which will take a long time to rebuild.

Remember AH your reputation was built by your user base, not advertising, and right now its going to the dogs.

Like us kullerts say on the Cape Flats... "My bru! n HELE 20gb van my het gebat giste-aant en ek kan F@KOL maakie! Wat dink jy van die mense!!!? Hulle vat n man mos vir n P@&S! man!!!"

I know its been long overdue (hoping things will change for the better...) but I'm definitely leaving Afrihost come 25 May! Sorry Afri-guys but your networks sucks!

Ye 25th is the end for me as well. D3 not working again tonight on afrihost only and LoL is impossible to play.

Sad thing is I don't even game or stream content that much other than youtube and a couple torrents during the month but its becoming/became absolutely ridiculous to do anything comfortably for the past 2+ months now!

I have an uncapped 10Mbps account with them, and have been having some terrible performance over the last few months. I'm being shaped almost constantly (Afrihost doesn't shape based on usage, but rather on network congestion). I subscribed to a 50GB uncapped account and have seen no effect, not that I expected to see anything different.

I've had Star Citizen downloading since Wednesday evening. Currently 72KB/s with 12 GB left...woohoo. War Thunder update (roughly 2.5GB) completed a few hours ago. (Upstream) DNS servers often become completely unresponsive, so I've resorted back to using other public servers.

Since MTN Business bought Afrihost, I've been seeing a decline. I'm not terribly happy about this :(

I'm running a trial on some of the other ISPs. IS-based seem to be ok.

EDIT: whoops, i just realized this is the capped discussion. Yeh, a new capped account is ****.

I've had no problems since I switched back to Afrihost a few months back from Telkom. I did find that since I upgraded my router recently, my streaming issues stopped and latency is better - always suspected my router was one of the causes of poor performance.

Had no issues today or yesterday as I've working the whole day on servers and cannot afford any problems.

Cape Town southern suburbs. Zero throughput. Zilch. Nada.

I look forward to the predictable Monday morning platitudes.

iOS updates maxed at 30KB/s again tonight, can't believe it's taken support so long to fix this. It's actually pathetic!

So the new month started and my 120gb got 2gb capped for the month to use after being invoiced R500 can someone help me fix this?

Definitely!

Can you please send me a PM with your account details I'll get it fixed and running again for you.
