Afrihost Capped ADSL Feedback (MTN) - New beginning

Hullo AfriGenie,

Thank you for the information. I am sorry to put it so bluntly, but having a local ping of 550 ms plus is not a good experience. Try playing a game with that latency.
In my opinion, Afrihost must laughing their socks off. The status page on the afrihost website hasn't changed in a month.

I have found a better alternative, I am willing to pay more for a better experience that always struggling along with afrihost.

So I will be not be doing another month of this.

Thanks for times that the network was stable and worked. Those guys who managed that deserves a bottle of Scotch.

We have the same core team in place, from our side, but we're looking to increase our insight and control over the network in the future so that we can offer a unique experience and react to the kind of symptoms you are reporting faster.

Can you drop me a PM, let's have a chat before you make up your mind - maybe we can do something to improve your experience now, even if you still decide to leave at the end of the month :(

Another ISP is running a special I could not resist, 10Mbps uncapped package for R349.00

Everyone at home is in bliss, the Internet is fast and Mom can play her Facebook games finally :)

Eskom loadshedding, meet Afrihost customer shedding.

I still can't believe they have not fixed this problem in so many months.

Looks like latency is brining everything down here :( Are you able to grab a traceroute quickly?

Bit hard to tell, looks like the latency may be coming in on our end :( Where abouts are you based?

Chalk and cheese

:(
Just double checked graphings on our end, does look to be replicated. Have you tried Afrigreen to see if things are better there?

No, im just here to test your standard service not the trial network (too much of a rigmarole for only a few gigs). Roughly when will your Afrigreen move on from the testing stage? Werent you guys also going to do another POC network? Afriblue or something like that, whats happened to that?

Afriblue is still in the works, we're nailing down getting Afrigreen the best it can be to run the comparisons from there.

Its unfortunate that you guys cant even give a rough time frame. I would like to buy a lot more data from you guys, however when network service is so degraded and your future is so uncertain, it makes it a lot more difficult/unlikely for me. One of those two scenarios is bad enough.

Fully understand dude :( I know it isn't great at the moment, we really are doing our best to have things sped up and pushed live ASAP.

Speeds are really poor today. Can't even get a tenth of my line speed.

Not going to be trying out a test network when I can get locked to it.
