What speed profile is your line at? Regardless, that doesn't look good and your latency is above normal here. How is it testing this morning?

Does not look like the pro rata billing is working

Charging the full price of R199 but only allocates pro rata data

Awesome latencies as usual

Switch to AfriGreen if you have it.
Arg_SA_Live Distro streaming fine here in Cape Town.
Chalk and Cheese compared to last weekend and AfriMtn by the sounds of it.

I am on Agfrigreen.
Only seems like they are prioritising the well known services. AS A CAPPED ACCOUNT ANY MEDIA I CONNECT TO SHOULD BE AVAILABLE.
Hence the Test Google.
Test Netflix
Test YouTube
Test this and that.and what happens is, unless its added to whatever protocol their majority of uses use, the rest goes to sh][t.
That is not what I expect from a Capped account.

I expect Capped to be perfect, Seams like Afrihost Capped solutions is throttled in some way to Justify their cheaper price.
But with Prices coming from VOX they going to kiss their @sses!

Are there any tests I can take a look at for you?
Some speedtests and a traceroute should be a good place to start.

much hilarity

at a friend's place, he's trying to download a youtube video - 3,0 of 217 MB (9,3 kB / sec) - 6 hours 30 minutes remaining.
(on a capped account)

explained to friend, will be quicker to sign up for trial account, download video and then permanently switch to new isp, than to muck about with support tickets and spending the rest of the day on hold to afrohost support.

download is now flying - isp swich taking place

We are getting a lot of packet loss to international sites at the moment. Anyone else having problems?

Those are pretty bleak stats, sorry about this :(
Have you had a chance to test out Afrigreen to see if the experience is better there?

Since a couple days I get 112 ms ping from the Telkom speedtest (local CPT - CPT). It's usually between 9 and 12 ms. And behaviour of conection is very weird as well. Total up n down all the time. Watch 3 YT vids without any problems, than 4th vid buffer like crazy. Also in forums and other websites many clicks go nowhere. I guess that's packet loss ... and totally unacceptable!

Shall we do the same with our payments? Like one month we pay the full amount, next month nothing, month after our payment suffers like a 23% packet loss. How you'd like that?

Please Afrigyus and -girls, you gotta get me back to internet bliss.

What you say makes perfect sense, but Afrihost would never do that.

That sounds more like a DNS-related issue, packet loss would cause the latency on your connection shoot up considerably as a lot the information need to be re-transmitted.

Have you been able try out one of our AfriGreen accounts yet?
