When is this process due to end? Why did this situation come about all of a sudden?

Our Team has made significant strides over the past week, and we're hoping that the next few days will see further improvements.

I've done my best to answer, the short answer is that there is high demand on the network at peak times and we're seeing degraded performance.

The long answer is that we believe this demand is inflated due to rogue P2P traffic that should be shaped (for Uncapped users) and we are working on closing those loopholes in our shaping policies. We have identified some new P2P traffic signatures and improved identification of existing signatures to address this. We are still working on this continuously until we've improved the impact of demand on the overall network performance.
This is the capped thread. Is capped shaped?

Not at all!

But the Shaping and how effective that shaping is on our Uncapped accounts can affect our Capped Users.

Due to the shaping not being effective our Uncapped accounts consumed more bandwidth from P2P downloads than they should have been using.

It's funny there aren't many complaints on the uncapped forum.

Most Uncapped users are just concerned with downloading as much as possible, and their usage patterns usually differ a bit, as they usually queue downloads for the late evening and early morning.

And we seemed to have gotten most PC, Xbox and PS4 games running okay on our Uncapped, apart from CS:GO on occasion, but I think that is more likely a peering issue that flares up from time to time.

My speeds again on an app update! This is nowhere near peak period. This is now the third week this is going on now.

And then 3 weeks with the same problem and critical care sending stupid replies like this morning

Hi Thorsten

Pranav here from Afrihost Critical Care.

I have just checked with our network engineers on the status of the network.
They are still busy testing and will make necessary changes if need be.

I'll keep you posted as I have more information from them.

Have a great day and please let me know if I can help with anything else!

Warm regards

Pranav

Huh... How are your other download speeds looking at the moment?

HTTP downloads at full speed 1.1MB/s, Torrents around 850KB/s & NNTP around 250-300KB/s using Afrihost news server.

So it looks like only App Store and NNTP being effected.

Thanks for checking. I've asked our Team to make sure everything is running as it should with regards to Apple-related services.

Funny enough downloads from the Mac AppStore run at full speed. So it seems like it's only iOS downloads.

So I tried gaming on my AH account for the first time in about 2 weeks and it was awful. Literally nothing has changed in 2 weeks. 30% loss in mumble and utterly horrid performance in GTA Online. Not even worth playing.

Switch to telkom and my loss doesn't even reach 0.05%. Glad to see nothing has changed...

That can't be, been playing GTA online with ease on my AH account and my packetloss never went higher that 1% at all. I also live in Cape Town.

Only problem having with GTA online, but it isn't AH fault, when my friend made a Heist Mission,(his with telkom), no one can drive a car or shoot anything except him. Only way to fix it, if he ran 3 of us over with a car so the (de-sync) can get better, then we able to access our cars and drive around.

So I can't believe what you say about AH being "awful", since I'm running it normally. My other friend if he joins a high populated(20+ players) server he gets over 30% packet loss and his with mweb. We found out to decrease the lag/delay and some packet loss is to lower your distance rendering. But even if I didn't lower it, I didn't get any packet loss but only mere delay, I tested on Crystal Web, Web Africa and telkom all seems the same.

The other problem GTA having is that, we South Africans gets put into United States and South American servers, I think only a few times I manage to enter a EU server. And with US server our pings is easily 300+ with immense lag/delay and disconnections.

Here a picture of TS while server with 10 people in my session:

When running a speed test from speedtest.net why does ISP show MTN SA and sometimes MTN Business? What's the difference?
