It will depend on the IP that you are assigned, we rotate the IPs regularly, and the ADSL IPs include IPs from MTN SA or MTN Business, this should have no impact on your performance.

Noticed two nights ago when AppStore downloads were working that speed test was showing MTN business, today it's showing MTN SA and downloads are max 30KB/s.

Maybe I'm pulling at straws here trying to get this sorted but worth looking into.

It could be a coincidence, but this is definitely something worth looking into! I'll check up on this.

Only problem having with GTA online, but it isn't AH fault, when my friend made a Heist Mission,(his with telkom), no one can drive a car or shoot anything except him. So I can't believe what you say about AH being "awful", since I'm running it normally. My other friend if he joins a high populated(20+ players) server he gets over 30% packet loss and his with mweb. We found out to decrease the lag/delay and some packet loss is to lower your distance rendering. But even if I didn't lower it, I didn't get any packet loss but only mere delay, I tested on Crystal Web, Web Africa and telkom all seems the same.

The other problem GTA having is that, we South Africans gets put into United States and South American servers, I think only a few times I manage to enter a EU server. And with US server our pings is easily 300+ with immense lag/delay and disconnections.

Just because you are having a good experience, doesn't make the problems experienced by others any less of a problem.
You are having a good experience - good stuff.
Others who aren't having a good experience need to bring their problems to AH's attention to be addressed.
Just because you aren't having an awful experience, doesn't mean others aren't having an awful experience.

Well, I just came to give feedback and found it weird since I'm also from the South.

Today a Telkom technician also came to my house to double check on my line, since I had line degrading sync, but I was able to get a good port reset to regain my line full speed again and after that port reset my latency dropped from 20ms+ to 9-13ms.

So just showing what a few calls can make though!

I think it is important to remember that every User has a different experience, some good, some not so good, but it does help us a lot to hear from Users across the spectrum as it helps us to peg down which changes are working and which ones are not working.

It is very easy to look at a Thread, and make positive or negative assumptions based solely on the User-base that posts on the Thread in question.

When did you notice the latency start spiking? Those results make it look like there the Exchange may be under load.
 
Updated my previous post.... hard to tell when it started, only tried to stream online just now when I noticed something was up.

If it were the exchange then all services would be degraded not just a specific like downloads while all other services run full speed.

Also testing with another ISP or using a VPN and getting full speeds actually just proves it's not the exchange.

Latency at those levels will primarily affect real-time services such as gaming, and even streaming to a certain degree.

You are right though, it wouldn't really affect downloads.
 
Afrihost still has packetloss.. :whistle: Your core network team ever find out what was causing it? :D
 
The current latency issue is not exchange congestion - at least not for me.
Test on www.saix.net:

I'll need to see a traceroute to be sure, but speedtests with a Telkom Guest Account can be tricky as they don't use the same network infrastructure that a full ISP account will.

Would you mind posting a traceroute to Afrihost.com?
