Logged a ticket (TOP-728-52604) 10 AM this morning. Still waiting for a reply.

Its been 6 hours now, still no internet, and the call centre is closed. This is not the kind of service I expect from my ISP.

Can somebody please have a look at where my ticket is and when my service will be restored.

What is going on with afrihost? Very poor browsing experience the past few nights also lose connection to game servers all the time. I cant even open Gmail, it just hangs forever. Edge on my phone is faster than my afrihost account on my 10mb line. Webafrica account works 100 percent, but I dont have enough data on that account to use it all the time. Why are there constant issues with Afrihost?

Having the same problem. Been going for a week now. They just reset my port every time and then it is better for a day, then we back to the same ####.

Currently I have no connection. Using 3G.

@The Afripeople:
Can you guys please look into the increased latency in the South.

Hello

If I buy a Afrihost bundle DSL and account can I use another DSL account or am I bound to using the Afrihost account?

You can use any ISP account. The bundle is just a discounted rate for Afrihost to tie in your line with the DSL package.

Also having terrible google services speeds in chrome.

QUIC is an experimental protocol run by Google, so I'm not sure it'll be working as it should, all the time.
We've run extensive checks on our end - this isn't something that can be fixed on our network.

Not true, switching from afrihost to Fnb Incontact fixes the issue. Therefore the problem is on your network.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having this horrible experience. I know that during peak contention we are seeing some services perform poorly. We did see some intermittent latency over Sunday, which was a little out of the ordinary for a Sunday. Our team are looking at this :(

News servers in general, both yours and international. It's not limited, it's totally blocked!

That's definitely odd. We've been testing NNTP on Business and Capped (which are essentially the same anyway in terms of network traffic) and we're definitely able to connect, though we've seen that our own server has been showing some slow performance now and again.

Are you getting any kind of errors?

Are Windows updates STILL borked on Afrihost network??

View attachment 218710

Two hours and ZERO progress ... must I really have to switch ISPs to update windows STILL !!! ??

/meh

They shouldn't be. Someone did post that Windows updates seemed to be running normally. But when there is latency on the network (like there was on Sunday) then we could see some services perform badly. Hard to say if this was the cause of the problem, but for now at least the latency seems to be stable.

Sorry about the poor turnaround time on your query. It looks like we did reply only later in the evening from your last update on the ticket.

Your line seems to be up and running now. I can't check for historical outages, but it's possible it was a Telkom problem in your area.

We do know that Sunday saw some spikes in latency. They don't seem to be very severe but possibly enough to affect services to some degree. We're looking into it from our side but it's a little hard to analyse when it's not occurring. Our guys will be monitoring for any re-occurence.

You can always use any ISP account on your line. The bundling is simply for billing and convenience, it does not in any way restrict your line.

It's something to do with Chrome's traffic settings. It doesn't happen in any other browser, and we definitely didn't make any changes on our side.

It uses UDP not TCP so its a different protocol, I think google is pushing more users onto it as they roll it out more extensively , chances are its getting throttled/shaped by some rule you guys already have in place. Either way switching accounts away from my afrihost/axxess accounts fixes the issue for me instantly.

Disabling QUIC does fix the issue though, have you tried it?
