Afrihost Capped ADSL Feedback (MTN) - New beginning

We're definitely still working on making improvements on the current network and jumping on issues as we pick them up. We are seeing more and more latency creep in, so that is a priority to control until we can move some clients over to test the new networks.

So what happens to me... I bet you're happy to see me go.

That depends on you. If you're happy to stick around, we'll be happy to have you test out the new network. Otherwise, you can always check us out when the dust settles and the new network (which ever POC ends up permanent) is running smoothly.

Never happy to see a client leave. Unless he's a real muppet ;)

Oh, I see the Afrihost account problems must be all my end again...

Well well well...

Would one of the AfriGeeks please explain why the network status is now miraculously green when even your CEO is confirming that there is a problem?

How will you ever get our trust back when it is blatantly obvious that you have problems and yet the Network Status reverts to Green?

Just posted about this above :)

I think that's more of a website glitch, the notice is still there.

Then will it be fixed and reverted to Red, or is it now at the bottom of the queue and only to be considered at the next quarterly technical meeting, as appears to have been the case in the past?

I think we need to try to keep our feedback thread civil. If you don't want to give feedback or engage because you don't think we're trying to help, that's always your prerogative not to use this channel.

I don't think anyone here wants to treat anyone like an idiot or be treated like one. We're here to engage and find solutions (where we can) and provide information.

While I pay and are treated like **** by your company I will rant and rave here as much as I like.

It'll revert to what it was previously. I'll update you guys when the small green dot bug is fixed ;)

The bug has been resolved.

and more to go...

EDIT:

I guess the uhm... "optimiser" is having to kick in aggressively to compensate for IPC capacity shortfall.

I think that's unrelated to the website issue, but yes - the above is something we're also working on.

We are currently in the process of designing and deploying comprehensive network upgrades nationally.

Can you clarify are your POC's running on the current network or are they a separate network?
We are getting conflicting statements here which are adding to the confusion.

Or did you choose to coin a silly acronym like POC (Proof of concept, I guess) to deliberately mislead and confuse again?
in short, is it a new network or new accounts on the MTN network?

Well POC can only be better than this current MTN POS!

Not necessarily.
A lot of the issues, especially the routing issues and peering are backbone not AP related.
If this is an exercise in repackaging then we get the same old rubbish in shiny new packaging.
If it is a new network I hold out more hope, but the teething troubles are a daunting prospect.

1st prize for the users is to see the network move back to the IS backbone, but MtN would block that, so second prize is a brand new network, hopefully independent of the MtN backbone.

This time I want to see that the "Emperor really has got new clothes"...

Note to self... must find facetious font.
