In general it would be month to month. So you can cancel before the 25th at any time during the month for the end of that month (since you pay in advance for the month).

Good luck with the testing. PM me if you need any help :)

Next month... but thanks.

Terrible, terrible packet loss today. Happened randomly for short periods twice this week, but this has been ongoing and never ending this morning. Gaming is impossible. Perfect pings just packet loss, which is a gaming killer. Is there any work being done on network atm?

10Meg line but only getting 1Mbit speed with YouTube streaming

Afrihost, why such a struggle for me to change my billing period to 15th of the month? I have been told telephonically that I need to pay before the 8 July 2014 or face paying a reconnection fee together with two payments upfront. I am a month behind, not two.

We unfortunately can't make that accomodation. However, what you can do is settle your current account and then schedule a future dated payment for the 15th, which will offset August's billing. You can then schedule a payment in this way for the 15th of every month. It will need to be full settlement though to avoid any additional billing on the 1st.

Otherwise, our standard billing cycle will be on the 1st of every month.

Seems mostly good, though I see some timeouts and occasional latency spikes. We'll probably need to test further to see if there is a line problem here :(

Sorry to hear this. Can you post me an MTR or diagnostic showing where you're seeing packet loss (on which hop)?

Glad it's better now. Did you run any tests while it was poor? Maybe run the Network Test App when speeds are poor and post the results here or in a PM to me :(

10Meg line but only getting 1Mbit speed with YouTube streaming

I was testing YouTube specifically yesterday and getting excellent throughput on an uncapped (shaped) account and also on a capped (unshaped) account. For higher quality streams I was getting over 2.5Mbps throughput on my line.

Did you get this all all the videos you tested on on specific videos?

I'm not going to set up an appliance just to diagnose, but latency was spiking occasionally (the wife especially notices either in gameplay or when getting kicked). I encountered session time-outs, made a cuppa tea and came back, somewhat annoying. Otherwise, latencies were good yesterday in the 180-200 ms range to London. See JohnZoidberg's comments as well.

It was better than during the week last week, but let's see what this week is like. I'll be trialing other providers for this traffic shortly.

871mb downloaded in 7 minutes. So far so good. 200gb capped account

Yes . if only i can get 20Mb speeds. Hope this account holds up. Used the afrihost uncapped but changed to capped.

Hi all, thinking about ditching 3G and getting adsl for home use. Any comments on Afrihost vs Internet Solutions. Looking at capped 4mb line for both. Price difference between the two seems quite substantial, not sure if thats an indication of quality vs cost?

I saw comments from him quite a while back, I think that was before we identified a problem on the network (in the North especially) causing some packet loss due to an IPC issue.

Maybe you can run an MTR test so we can see how consistently you're seeing packet loss and we can review :(
