Can't see any obvious reason why :( Although this is generally quite a busy time on the network.
Any test info I can look at?

You should have a decent grip on the state of your network. There is clearly still something wrong, and yet you are still trying to pass it off as normal ?

Please have some respect for your customers, we are not idiots, we know when we are being sold a pack of lies.

10mbps line running at about 50% of capacity in Cape Town. Not the end of the world, better than last week, but still not exactly fantastic.

Ok something strange is going on with our internet. I've used the Telkom Guest account for the saix speedtests and only the Rosebank server seems to work correctly. Also the Afrihost account is also performing poorly. What is going on?

This can't be exchange related since the Rosebank speedtest is doing ok...

I have another account with Afrihost... for mobile data only.

I was curious to see if adding an ADSL account to this made any difference...

The new Afrihost ADSL Capped account;

Here... the old (current) Afrihost ADSL Capped account;

:wtf:

I have had this issue with international throughput with this account since July.
Of course, there is absolutely nothing wrong at all with it.
iOS updates and blah increased blah southern blahblah demand...

What's the point of bundling your line with AH?

I've had to contact Telkom myself to get the maximum sync speed database updated for my area (so much for dealing with them on my behalf). Now I've been waiting 5 days for a line speed change. Could of done this myself in 5 minutes.

any reason why my line is so sucky as of late? Getting a 0.86mb down speed and 0.3 up. I recently downgraded the line to 2mb because we never get anything above 2mb on a 4mb line???

Bolded part is your issue. Looks like congestion. You shouldn't really be getting anything over 20ms there. Open a line fault with Telkom.

You save money, you get access to AH's excellent Clientzone line features and they do handle Telkom on your behalf (albeit for basic things). There's no harm, because you can still deal with Telkom directly if you so choose. Just be smart and don't involve Afrihost if you're pretty sure there's a Telkom issue affecting your connection.

Is anyone else experiencing slow upload speeds? Feels like I'm getting less than 300Kbps, I haven't run an actual Speedtest yet, but with other ISP's I get around 400Kbps.

I understand that there's a network issue due to "IOS Updates", but if it carries on like this I'll have to cancel. I don't know how long it's been like this, as I haven't had to use this account for uploading yet.

Downloads are working quite well though.

@Afriman / @Afriguy
You guys need to come clean about what's happening.
There's a slew of reports right here that suggest things are still far from being normal.
My situation has not improved with both Local and International maxing out at 4mbps today.
Far cry from the typical stable state of 8mbps.

Latency appears to have stabilized but something is still wrong somewhere. I'm betting it's related to the software changes you guys have communicated. That being so I cannot fathom why it's taking the combined might of Afrihost and MTN to... well... draw blanks in terms of resolution. Your customer's are feeling the pain. This is not cool guys!!!

Steel Dog, that sounds like last mile problems. Maybe your local exchange is congested. AH doesn't throttle capped accounts, period! Datz da reason why we're on those, no? My 100+100 runs like a dream, torrenting 2 huge animes right now (like 1080p full seasons huge) that will be finished in less than 1 hour, my wife is using some forum from her lappy and I'm on MyBB forum. No problems whatsoever.
Howzit.
No last mile is perfect and so is the IPC hop as well. If you checkout my latest ping tests you'll note no latency spikes at all between my router and the exchange or to the IPC. I did note yesterday that there was packet loss and latency spikes further on. Don't see any of these today... but speeds are maxed out at 4mbps. 50% of normal.

You're correct about the no-shaping... well almost :).
Afrihost have, from what I gather, rolled out some software changes that could be impacting network performance. Afriguy yesterday mentioned something along the lines of - changes will filter through in time - so wait and see.

You save money, ...
It was worth it until they stopped the mystery discount idea and moved the bundled service to the new pricing model.
It got a lot less impressive after that.
50GB capped + 10mbps line as standalones is about R20 more than taking the same as a bundled option.
It was around a R79 saving to me before that.
