I did see your reports now. Obviously every user's experience may be different when demand could be at peak. Some users will be pulling full speeds, depending on when their session started, while others may get poorer performance. Also remember that any minor line issues and sync degradation will be further exacerbated as well.
 
My 10MB line seems to be hard-limited to 4MB tonight ( Exactly 400KB/s is all I can manage at the moment, usually easily hit 1MB/s )

Definitely not a line issue.

OK Something is wrong. Been using Afrihost for almost a year, and problems started about a month or so ago. Posted this same issue a few days after it started and hoped it would sort itself out. Nope. Speedtests gives very poor results (much like attached picture) on a daily basis. As I'm a frequent Dota 2 player, this gets annoying as hell when I get home everyday and can't enjoy a game or two with friends.

I'm on a Capped 4mb line. Here are the results of speedtests and trace routes:

Any ideas?

This basically has been happening frequently for the past month almost daily, maybe once or twice where there was a 1-2 day window of pure bliss, but then it would inevitably start again.

I'm in the southern suburbs of Cape Town if that matters.

Test definitely seem all over the place here. I know we are still seeing demand in the South but your experience should not be this unstable as far as I understand from the reports I have.

Have you run any kind of troubleshooting as yet?

Pings are better and BF4 played much better.

Doing a test with a NZB download and it downloading at 4.1 MB/s. Very quickly indeed.

Looks almost back to normal good speeds again for me.

1.5 GB file downloaded in 6 mins 39s.

Glad things are looking up. We're continually adjusting and improving wherever we can to provide the best experience.
 
On 1 October I requested that you upgrade my 20GB + 75GB capped bundle (for R598pm) to a 20GB +75GB+75GB capped bundle (for R654pm) for a pay-in of R56, which is the difference in cost.

I was unable to do this on self-service, as it was quite clear that your self-service facility could not handle this.

However, you have now added 75GB+75GB to my bundle, and charged me R289.35 for this, and I cannot possibly use up this total of over 200GB, I usually use about 100GB per month (which is why the base 75GB wasn't enough). Basically, you did exactly what I thought the self-service option would do, and that I knew would be incorrect.

Please deduct 75GB off my bundle and credit me with (R289.35-R56).

I also have a major problem with your Support Facility on your website, I see that you just deleted my previous complaint about this matter !!! This is unethical, just resolve it, don't delete it.

@AfriGuy : Thanks for sorting out the issue with the mobile data premature cap.

When you upgrade a bundle, the individual product is charged at full pro-rata, not at a rate from one bundle to another. Since you were possibly on a custom bundle, we may not be able to revert to the previous bundle, since you requested that it be changed.

You can drop me a PM, but I think the confusion may also be that you're referring to a previously available bundle that is no longer available.

YouTube seems to be the only "real time" service not shaped at the moment... Can't watch FB videos, can't watch Twitch.tv

CINX is running at 1.2Gbps so there's definitely spare capacity at the moment.

Dynamic shaping my a$$.

My experience is that FB videos are generally not great, especially on Mobile. I don't think that is network specific.

My tests on YouTube were pretty awesome, I don't really use any other streaming much personally. I saw another client post that Twitch was awesome for them though, so we'll need to see if this was at different times or if there was increased demand at that point.

We should be seeing good results in the South right now. Demand is under control so we shouldn't be seeing throughput issues.

Your ping is also crazy high. Can I see a full trace route if possible?
 
My 10 mbit line had 1mbit international speeds for most of yesterday. At least I could browse, but I can browse on 1GB / month. That is not why I bought a capped/unshaped account.

Time to vote with the wallet - even if it means paying slightly more elsewhere...

Last month was a low month for me, so I'm using this month to see how much data I actually use of the gazillions that I supposedly have available. Then will conservatively add 50 to 100% to cater for the data I could not use because of the low speed, and if things aren't usable by the 25th, I'm finding an account elsewhere. The same goes for all the other accounts that I manage.

I'm sorry that we've reached this point. I do believe that we're seeing some better performance now, and my own experience over the weekend was fairly good on capped, though I mostly tested in the evenings.

I do think we'll see better performance as we get through the week, our team still have more ideas of where improvements can be made.

Latency spikes up above 1k in European based server and never comes back.... No more packets gets through until the game times out. Relog in and latency looks good for about 20 seconds.
Getting sick of paying for this.
And yes, I opened a ticket.

OK, so I'm on leave this week. Thankfully during the day I'm watching Twitch without any problems and my downloads are at full speed, this is definitely a capacity issue at night! This now night time in the US, so lot's of Twitch viewers there as well!

Glad to hear that your experience is good. This does make an interesting point that overseas services may have more load depending on time difference. Always worth factoring in :)

We'll need to see where the latency originates, but either way I'm really sorry that your experience is not good. I promise that if the issue can be fixed on our side we'll definitely look into this :(

I gave them the PathOfExile IP. I'm in JHB, btw, and other ISPs are routing without issue.

Yeah I'm just sad that I have to leave Afrihost because my Double Data has fallen away :(
 
Pings to Diablo 3 EU server is the best I have ever seen so far. Good job Afriman!

Why don't you just rebundle to get it back? That's what I have done. I was on a legacy 40mb+100Gb bundle, I just unbundled and rebundled to get the double data back? R845 versus R854, so worth it for the extra data.

I was still on the 20mbps + 75GB bundle for R598.

Nobody knows what is going on now. Complete stuff-up, neither your self-service nor the admin staff seem to be able to handle this.

Talk about letting sleeping dogs lie, everything has been totally screwed up now.

Looks as if I will have to go and buy some data from someone else for the rest of this month.

To think that I cancelled my Telkom service because they were unable to handle upgrades properly, this is even worse.

I'm paying R450 for 10Mb+50GB bundle currently. If I unbundle then I pay R128pm month for the "FREE" 50GB :confused::(

I was also told to unbundle in order to get double your data. So that's what I did.
